4.0 out of 5 stars Better than stock
Replacing a worn shift knob in a Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, I looked at quite a few different ones. Finally decided on this Razo and am glad I did. This shift knob has a much better weight and feel than stock. Installation was easy with the included adapters. I now have better, more solid shifting using the Razo. Only thing that I didn't like was no shift pattern on...

1.0 out of 5 stars Does Not Fit!!!
I bought this for my brother for his birthday, he has a 2001 Ford F150 & it clearly stated that this stick will fit the model, but of course it didnt & is now sitting in storage. Make sure you contact the company before you purchase this. The knob itself is really cool it looks heavy-duty but does not fit most models

Not some cheap knock off or lightweight imitation, Rock solid and heavy, makes shifting feel like a breeze...Highly recommended, fits very well into my medium sized hand.

I've had my car for about a year now (2003 Pontiac Vibe GT) and have finally gotten around to buying a new shift knob. I wanted something fresh and this product delivered!

When I first received the package, I fell in love with the weight of this knob. It has some heft to it, which makes shifting feel great. I also immediately noticed how much smaller it is than the stock knob. I have big hands and it still fits very nicely while driving, despite its smaller size. It isn't awkwardly small but it's a very welcomed reduction in overall size.

Installation was a breeze. The instructions included had a small chart listing what size of insert to use for different makes. Since my Vibe is basically a Toyota Matrix, I found the appropriate insert (12mm, in this case) and screwed it down with the included piece (which is apparently necessary to reduce potential rattling). The package also includes a 10mm and an 8mm plastic piece for different applications. I took a picture of the aforementioned chart and uploaded it to the customer image gallery for this product. If you are interested in seeing what RAZO specifies in their instructions, that picture should be available. The list isn't very long but you can measure your shaft diameter for a better idea. I don't know what the significance of the reverse threading is so I'm not sure if simply having the right shaft diameter is enough to guarantee a good fit. I wish I could say with certainty but, unfortunately, I cannot.

They also included some stickers in the package. There is a RAZO sticker for general use and a couple of shift pattern stickers. It was a nice gesture but they seem rather useless (especially since neither of the patterns matched what is in my car). I'm not sure if they intended them to be put on the top surface of the knob or on the dash near the shifter, as a point of reference. They would look cheesy on the leather and I have no need for a reminder of how my gears are arranged. I could see how some people may make use of them so it's nice that they included them. They're just not useful for my needs. Oh well, it doesn't hurt to have them!

Once you bolt the insert down, installation was as easy as taking the old shift knob off and twisting this one on. The threading of the insert occurs through pressing down on the knob while rotating it in a clockwise direction. It took quite a few complete rotations before it felt screwed on enough to be stable. Once I got it screwed on well, it felt like it was firmly and securely installed. It hasn't come loose and feels very solid! I'm glad that it was easy to install because I wasn't sure what to expect when I placed the order. The instructions made a simple process clear through illustrations and to-the-point descriptions of the steps.

This shift knob is a great improvement over the stock knob in my Pontiac Vibe GT. I love the weight and size. It's very comfortable to hold and the added weight makes each throw feel powerful and sporty. The leather wrapping makes it look sleek. I'm hoping that it will help to keep the knob from getting too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. It should be better than an entirely metal knob, at least. The slight pistol grip looks fierce and it fits the contours of my big hands very well.

I'm having a hard time identifying any flaws with this product. It's a terrific product being offered at a great price. The build quality is beyond what I was expecting for such a competitively priced piece. I can't imagine that it will have any trouble holding up. If, for whatever reason, the leather rips or some crazy accident occurs that renders this shifter unusable, I would purchase another without giving it much thought. It's hard to imagine finding a knob as nice as this for the price.

I strongly believe that you will enjoy this shift knob, should you decide to try it out. If you are concerned about the height, they offer a similarly designed shift knob with a big of extra height. If it's built as well as this (and I assume it is), you can't go wrong!

Very nice product, but the mounting system could be better.

What I did to the proper sized plastic adapter was to pre-tap it before installing, vs just screwing it on to the shifter shaft and having it "cut its own threads.

I also used a drop of thread locker on the shaft before I screwed down the shift knob. Now it is on there and not going anywhere.

Love this knob. Have no idea why I waited 77k on my 2006 Accord to put it on. Makes shifting more of a joy to a manual car since you hands is on the knob so much. I sometimes debate whether I should have gotten the long RA96, cant really know if short or long feels best until you try both out I guess. But this one is just a bit higher than OEM and my arm can rest on the rest pad and still shift. Looks sharp, feels great and a lot cheaper than Momo brand. I think Razo is top notch. Install is easy as can be too.

My 350z OEM knob was getting worn out (yeah I drive hard). I had a Greddy weighted knob in another vehicle and liked the weight but it didn't have the best "feel". This shifter is holding up well, is well weighted, and comes with 3 threaded installation inserts that cover the vast majority of shifter threads. NOTE: Try a dry fit of the insert before locking it into the shift knob. they give you this warning in the instructions but I didn't listen and did it by eyeball. It was the wrong size and removing the insert from the knob was quite a job. It is a very snug fit as it should be so it refused to come out. I finally used a 3 inch screw, a slide hammer and a vise to get the piece out. This is a tribute to a well engineered piece - you WANT it to be a tight fit so it doesn't rattle around when you shift. just DON'T put in the wrong insert when you start - I hope you read this before your install yours so you don't do the idiot thing I did. Great shift knob, good grip, good tactile feel throuh my racing glove (finger grooves keep it from slipping). Hammer down the shift up and down the gears - no mis-shifts as yet. I would buy the Razo again - might try a MoMo next time around. Side note - if you have a performance vehicle use pure gas to get the most performance - the ethenol stuff is junky.

I got this for my 1998 Pontiac Firebird but although I ended up returning it because it didn't fit, this knob is superb quality, has a good weight to it and best of all; it is made in Japan!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, January 20, 2012

Just got mine delivered today. Comes with 3 adapters to fit the knob to the shift rod and a screw to keep the appropriate adapter attached to the knob itself. Instructions are pretty straight forward and hardly necessary with how simple the install is. Really only useful for selecting the right adapter size but that can easily be worked out by just seeing which 1 of the 3 is a fraction smaller than the rod. I upgraded from a cheap auto store knob that looked nice, but was relatively light in weight and it was one of the knobs that is really only held in place by three short & tiny allen screws providing pressure to the knob. If you've had these, then you probably know how shady those feel. I ended up only having it for a month before I realized it isn't ever going to fit correctly. This (Razo's) is a proper knob. You form fit it by screwing the knob down on the threaded rod, which carve the pattern into the adapter. By the end, you have a solid fit that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I even removed and re-installed it a few times to see if there will be any problems re-fitting, but it seems the threads it makes in itself catch the same time pretty easily (I'd suggest start threading from a sensible starting point, like having the shift knob straight forward). My only complaint is that it isn't much (if at all) shorter than my stock one. One of the times when I removed the new knob, I checked how far the threads of gone so far and they went as far as they'll go. And as the instruction sheet suggests, don't get crazy and try to force screw it down anymore. You'll just hit a wall and most likely end up cracking the adapter, and it DOESN'T come with any extra ones which I wish they would. I didn't need it but it'd be a nice 'just-in-case' for someone. Either way, with common sense, there shouldn't be a problem. Might need to raise the shift boot higher so it's flush with the bottom of the new knob. With my old one, I just wrapped some black electrical tape around the visible rod and snugged the boot up. You could also stack washers on the rod but that involves removing the boot completely but it's up to you. So far I love this product. Don't cheap out on something so crucial to operating a MT. Luckily I kept my stock one in my armrest compartment when the cheap auto store one decided it would no longer stay solid on the rod anymore. Razo's seems very professional though. And relatively low cost to some of the other ones on here. Just don't cheap out on a $20 one and I HIGHLY suggest you get a proper screw-on like Razo's.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heavy and Great Quality, January 5, 2012

This knob looks much better than the pictures. Its very solid and very heavy which makes shifting feel better. The grip fits my hand better than the typical round ball knobs, and is one of the best shifting knobs I've used. My only concern is that in the instructions Razo recommends changing the knob every "3 races or ~7000 miles" I'm hoping this will not be the case. If this knob is more durable than the instructions imply, then it is well worth the price.
