5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect For Beginners!
This is our family's first Ripstik and all I can say is "wow". My eleven year old daughter asked me to get her this. I'm a 40 year old father and after a few hours, I'm hooked! The following week I bought myself a Ripstik-G (which I believe is similar to the original) and that's how I got to compare them.

And oh, never try anything for the first time without...

And oh, never try anything for the first time without ample protection. Wrist pads in particular. You'll find out why when you fall. And believe me, you don't want to.

-The Ripstik Air is a tad shorter than the Risptik G. If you have a wide stance, go for G.

-Air is also lighter than G, which makes it great for people who can do jumps which I can't... yet. G stands for "grind" which I don't do... yet. And yes it's heavier than Air which makes it more stable in my opinion.

-Air has that sandpaper feel on the deck which gives a real good grip for almost any type of shoes and makes it safer especially for kids. I tried riding the G wearing cowboy boots and let me tell you, it's not a good idea. No, I didn't fall but it made me slow and fashionably horrible.

-Air has "spring-loaded" wheels; they snap back to the center. This, in my opinion, lessens the effort of carving. A little tug or snap translates into a few feet! It's less frustrating for beginners. The drawback though is the loss of control. Since you have a tendency to go real fast real quick, turns are quite scary to do! The G is all about control. I scatter little obstacles like books, chairs, water bottles and the like in our living room and I'd be "snaking" around them real slow. It's like surfing in a pond! I can stay on deck for thirty minutes and it's beautiful!

So that's what I think. If you go for speed, get Air; for control, get the G (or the original). Either way you'll have an experience like you never had before.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Far Superior, May 7, 2010
The ripstik air is the best ripstik by far. The original is great and all, but the air has many better qualities. I've had the opportunity to ride all versions of the ripstik and this is my favorite. It rides smoother and more quiet to the point that I can make a phone call while riding. It causes much less strain on your legs and ankles so you can ride longer. It is overall a better and higher quality ripstik.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as expected!, December 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great service! UPS took my RipStik on a wild ride 200 miles out of the way before actually delivering it, but it arrived in perfect condition.
Very similar to other RipStik boards in the way it rides.
Springs don't push the wheels back into their exact proper place after some use, but it's nothing to worry about, is correctable, and doesn't affect the ride.
Beware: you may look somewhat silly when starting out. Dermis damage is also quite probable on the first try.

Things to consider before buying a RipStik:

Will it be useful as a mode of transportation?
. My book bag is too heavy for riding a RipStik to class. You really can't carry much while riding on them. The more you carry, the
. more it throws off your center of gravity, making it difficult to ride.

Will you have a place to ride it?
. On well-maintained sidewalks and roads, there is no problem, but the RipStik is far more difficult to
. ride over bumps than a normal skateboard/longboard.

Will it be used?
. I've found snow, ice, and cold weather to deter me from using it. This continues into an entire season of disuse.

If not using it for transportation, how can it be used?
. If friends aren't willing to purchase a RipStik of their own, you may find it becomes boring taking turns making small trips back
. and forth down an alley in attempt to share it. If it is unreasonable to use for transportation due to center of gravity issues and
. your friends are unwilling to join you in RipStik adventures, you may find the (albeit cool) RipStik falls into complete disuse.

The RipStik is very fun to use and surprisingly easy to handle. I've a friend who claims to have found it easier than a regular skateboard to balance on. All of my friends picked up the ability to use it within three days of one-hour use sessions. My advice: be sure the investment matches the amount of use you'll get out of it. ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome once you upgrade the wheels and bearings, June 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Feels stiff when you first get it, but after it's broken in a bit, it feels great. I own this, a Ripstik G, and a Timberwolf ConVert, and I ride this one the most. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that the wheels are a bit hard and the bearings are slow. I upgraded my bearings to Bones Red and swapped in Labeda Asphalt wheels and now this thing rocks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!, January 10, 2011
A Kid's Review
This ripstick air pro is a good competetor to the regular ripstick. It is a good stater board and most people I know say it is a lot more easy than the original ripstick. It is in one pice and the wheels are spring loaded and it is much more lightweght than the original. If you are looking to see if this ripstick is worth the extra money, you are in the right place.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves it!, February 21, 2011

This is a great ripstick purchase. My son wore out his original ripstick, so I purchased this one for his birthday. It is quieter, faster, and lighter than the original, and he loves it!

4.0 out of 5 stars ok sort of, August 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This ripStik Air is light. Check the warranty. It may not last long due to no support / beam at the center of the stick like the one that has got metal rod from end-2-end. So, if you are a "grind" lover, and do stunts on the edges of rails, the stik will break apart.

5.0 out of 5 stars super fun, February 10, 2011

This is the most stable brave board, but also fast. If you like just riding without tricks, I really recommend the RipStik Air. That's super fun!
