RazorPit uses a patented friction technology to clean off the residue and thereby leaving you with a clean and sharp razor blade. We have customers saving up to 90% on razor blades - But the average saving is around 60% a year. RazorPit makes expensive razor cartridge refills and dull-bladed shaving a thing of the past. I finally had had it with Gillette. $18 for 8 Mach 3 blades and I figured there's gotta be some way to make these blades last longer to save money. So I took a chance and bought this blade sharpener. Well it certainly does the job. When my blade gets dull, I cover the sharpener with a little foam (as per the instructions) then glide the blade on it four times and voila I'm back to about 80% as sharp as when I first used the blade. I've been using it for 4 weeks now and haven't had to change a blade - normally I get 2 weeks usage MAX out of a single blade. This thing will easily pay for itself in couple of months so a good money saver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stocking stuffer= BIG savings on blades July 30, 2011
Purchased Razorpit from the grooming lounge in Dec 2010... price @that time was $20. Here are the bottom line #s supplied by my husband, a HS math/science teacher. He has quantified the actual savings a man can realize w/ this product.(Constants for this experiment: he shaves 3x/week,infrequently on weekends; he cleans razor as per instructions right after using; he uses Gillette Fusion Proglide blades $30/8 cartridges

BEFORE RAZORPIT.... $30/8cartridges=$3.75/cartridge. 6shaves (3shavesx2weeks). 8 cartridges x 2weeks longevity=16 weeks for 1pkg of 8blades. 52weeks/16 weeks longevity =3.25packages of blades purchased per yr. 3.25 packages of blades/yr x $30/pkg =$97.50 annual cost for Gillette Fusion Proglide blades.

AFTER RAZORPIT.... same calculation as above. 26 shaves(3shavesx 8.6 weeks) Jan27 2011 -March 282011). 54 shaves (3shaves x 18 weeks) March 29-July 24 2011. Beginning July 31 only 3rd of 8 cartridges will have been used. With 25 weeks left in 2011, he expects to get 75 shaves for remainder of year. Since each catridge costs $3.75, his cost for the year will be.................................................................................................$11.25!!!!
Projected savings....per year $97.50-11.25= $86.25 3yr= $258.75 5yr= $431.25
NOTE; the reason there was increasing variability w/#shaves/per blade was that there is a learned response to exerting just the right amount of pressure on the polymerized rubber track. The enclosed paper instructions dont really help;go to the website for the video on how to properly exert friction.
The claims of up to 120-150 shaves /blade are specious @ best. After around 60 uses, the blade is not as efficient and as several othe men have correctly pointed out, the lubricating strip is nil.

CONCLUSION: a win win win for .. the environment / your wallet/ your wife/gf who enjoys smooth skin . hope this helps.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Longer a Skeptic April 1, 2012

Like almost everyone else, I was skeptical when I bought this product. Could it really prolong the life of my blades while giving me the quality of a new blade? After 2 months of use, I can sum it up in one word - YES! In short, if you shave at least 2-3 times per week, it is worth buying the RazorPit. Obviously if you shave more, its even better.

First question you might have is how does it work? After every shave, you place a small amount of shaving cream on the silicone pad and slide your razor blade upward (opposite the direction of shaving) 4 times. Wash your blade and the RazorPit and you're done. I assume it works by keeping your blade clean on the microscopic level, therefore keeping your blades sharper. (I think the official website says as much).

Prior to the RazorPit, I got about 5-6 weeks out of my fusion blades (shaving about 2-3 times per week). I could usually tell that by week 4, my shave was getting a bit sub par. Using the same shaving frequency, I am now on week 9 of my current blade and my shave is as good as day 1. I plan to replace after 10-12 weeks even if the blade is going strong just because I want to compare to a fresh blade again.

I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because of price and because I have to use this every time after I shave. It does everything it claims and I would still recommend this as a buy!
