Product Description

The last thing veteran reporter Colin McGuire , fleeing his job on a big-city newspaper in the wake numbing personal tragedy, expects to find in sleepy little Seaville on Long Island’s North Fork is murder. In a few short weeks Seaville has brought him friends, some comfort and perhaps more in the person of Annie Winters, who is also trying to build a new life. But as the murders multiply, so, too, do the questions and the doubts. Friends suspect friends, lovers suspect lovers and sooner or later a lot of people begin to suspect Colin.

This is one of those down-to-the-wire stories, very well written, guaranteed to keep you flipping the pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT READ! COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!, May 22, 2000
My true blue test of a great murder mystery is that I can't figure out who the killer is until the very end. . . and this one passed with flying colors. So many suspects! I loved it. Just when I knew I had it all figured out, a new character was introduced or I became wary of an old one. Nice, fast-paced plot and totally believable characters. I'm glad I discovered this author and plan to read more of her books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tight plotting - generally a good read, May 19, 2000
I was interested to see whether a Scoppettone book about a male protagonist written under a male nom de plume would be any different to the Lauren Laurano series.

I was not surprised however to enjoy this book as much as the Laurano series. The usual tight plotting and interesting characterisations from Scoppettone (Early).

This book is recommended to all Scoppettone fans and those who would enjoy a good mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome Back, March 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Welcome back, Jack Early, Sandra Scoppettone, whatever name the story
of Colin Maguire is a real mystery with Sandra's sharp eye and skilled
story-telling. It's good to see these Early books back with Sandra's
name afixed at last! Vin Packer.
