Creating stuff has been Masha's favorite thing to do ever since she was a little girl in St. Petersburg, Russia. Masha moved to the U.S. when she was a teenager eventually studying painting, printmaking and graphic design at the Cooper Union in New York. After graduation she worked as an art director, focusing on brand identity, for several design and advertising agencies. Despite her professional success in graphic design, she never forgot her love of painting.

In 2002 Masha launched a greeting card company based on her own watercolors. Her playful painting style draws on inspirations from nature, fashion design, calligraphy, Japanese art and, of course, her native fairy tales. Whimsical and sophisticated, her themes are evocative of a child's imagination: euphoric abandon, humor, everyday mystery, and the beauty of imperfection.

Masha's cards have found their first audience through upscale stores such as Barneys NY, Louis Boston and Neiman Marcus. Now her card line may be found in exclusive boutiques as well as in specialty lines developed for Target and Barnes & Noble. Her growing list of products includes t-shirts and home decor for Neiman Marcus, The Gap and Target, CD jackets for Bergdorf Goodman, bedding for Garnet Hill, and t-shirts and home decor for Urban Outfitters. Masha's work has been featured in numerous movies and TV shows including Funny People and The Kids Are Alright.

Masha also designs paper-engineered cards for The Museum of Modern Art's renowned holiday card line. Her Times Square ball drop design recently won an international Louie award.

This book is a treasure trove of fun for the little ones, and a charming reminder to the bigger ones on the magic of winter. My daughter is three, and loves the pop-ups and Ruby's snowy adventure. She cant wait for winter to really get going so we can make snow angels. Masha Dyans whimsical style is so well suited to the children's genre, I cant believe this is her first book. Give us more! Goes well with a cup of hot coco and a good friend, daughter, son, mother, brother or dad!

When I first saw this book I thought it would be perfect for my kindergarten girls. It has a really cute little girl (Ruby) in a purple dress and flashing stockings. It has glitter on the cover which speaks "girl book" loud and clear. Once I read the book though I realized that the story could appeal to any child, boy or girl. Living in a state that is famous for its winter sports, especially skiing, the children around here have lots of experience playing in the snow. The first test was my four-year-old nephew and the book passed with flying colors. He very much enjoyed the tabs and pulls. Then I decided to try it with my kindergartners. I wasn't sure how well it would work with the tabs and pulls, but it turns out the students really liked it, both boys and girls. The flipping snowman was an especially big hit. I highly recommend this book for both boys and girls who like playing in the snow. It would go great with Ezra Jack Keats' The Snowy Day or Shirley Neitzel's The Jacket I Wear in the Snow for a story time about playing in the snow.

Razzle Dazzle Ruby, by Masha D'yans, is a most imaginative pop-up book! A girl named Ruby, inspired by the sparkle of the snow, decides to go outside and play with her dog, Rocket. Out there in the snowy wonderland, they use their imaginations and have some magical adventures. Razzle Dazzle Ruby is so colorful, creative and beautifully done. It just makes me happy to read it, look at the illustrations, and play with the pop-ups. Little girls everywhere are sure to love this wintry treasure too.
