These are the original recordings of Hank Locklin's hit songs. No need to look around any more. Aside from the Bear Family Boxed sets, this is the only collection with the original versions available.
The booklet has recording dates and session musicans listed anlong with an essay.
I would say this is the definate Hank Locklin.

Here's an artist easily forgotten, although his talent is nothing short of stellar. Hank Locklin was somehow able to tie the original Honky Tonk sound with the Nashville sound that made him a favorite of fans from both categories of country music. This "Best of..." collection includes all of his biggest hits, including "Send Me the Pillow" and "Please Help Me I'm Falling"; although his best vocal work can be found in "Geisha Girl" and "Followed Closely By My Teardrops". These are origianl recordings and the sound is as good as it gets. A+

Hank Locklin was a fine country singer in both the honky tonk and Nashville Sound styles. This CD is a much welcomed reissued collection of his hits including the classics "Please Help Me I'm Falling" and "Send Me the Pillow." Check out the organ playing by Ray Stevens on "Bonaparte's Retreat"! An essential addition to any country music collection.

It was not on my top list of country CD purchase but I am glad I bought the CD. I basically like legendary country singers with a few exception like Randy Travis and Dwight Yoakam. There may be a few more but am not interested in majority of CMA award singers. I don't find many of the voices beautiful so I don't listen to Country radio stations in recent but stick to my own through I-pod. I guess younger folks like gutteral sounding voices. To each his or her own. I like the words of legendary singers i.e. Hank Williams.

It is a CD with songs the listener can empathise with the singer over a range of proverbial life experiences expressed in songs. It is easy on the ears, the more I listen to it, the more I love it.

This is a fantastic CD. I remember Hank Locklin from my early years. I saw this and had to have it. I'm enjoying it immensely.

The old recordings were very good. I had rewritten the songs in my mind in the sixty years since I had heard some of them.

I listen to country classic XM Radio, and I like hearing the old country stars. I wanted to get one of Hank Locklin CDs. I do not know his songs very well, but I have enjoyed this CD. A big Hank Locklin fan might point out a better CD, but I like it.
