1.0 out of 5 stars Not Free, Not Working, Not Integrated December 26, 2012
By Yash

I run into this because "SoundHound" had an option for "Listen to on Rdio". I learned that is just an ad with no integration. The link opens the Appstore regardless if Rdio is installed or not. Although that is most likely an issue with SoundHound but, I'm pretty sure that Rdio have had input on how they want to be advertised (and probably paid for the linkage).

For Rdio itself:
It says it is free on Amazon.com and their website. Yes, a non-functioning free app that requires a subscription to work; however that is not communicated clearly until you have given them your info. On their website it says "Get Rdio free" to get you to sign-up as well. Even their confirmation email doesn't state that it is a subscription based service. Only after installing the app, signing up, and signing-in, it says that I have '7-days' before I will have to pay for a subscription and that I need to "see website for details". It doesn't even say how much it would cost on the spot (It is $9.99 a month)
From the functionality point, it takes forever to load. It is over 15 MB out of the box with no songs, etc (what is in this thing?). It takes so long that my phone says the app is unresponsive and asks me to either wait or kill it. I waited to see if it loads, and it eventually did. - more info: I tried this on Android 4.2, which is the latest version over 3G/HSPA.

Without listening to a single song, I already uninstalled the app and went to Rdio's website and chose to "Delete Account" from "Advanced Settings".

2.0 out of 5 stars problems on Kindle Fire November 21, 2011
Verified Purchase
Have only tried this on the Kindle Fire. It's mostly fine - a well-executed Android app.

BUT - on launch it asks if it can keep your wifi connection alive even when the screen is off so that audio will continue to stream. Unfortunately, there is NO WAY on the Kindle Fire to revert changing this system setting, so even when Rdio is not running your Kindle Fire will be keeping the wifi connection alive while the screen is off and it's sitting on your couch. This will absolutely destroy your battery life.

In normal Android, there's a system setting to toggle WiFi sleep when the screen is off. The Kindle Fire settings do not have this toggle, and Rdio does not provide any ways to revert. Be warned!

5.0 out of 5 stars You need a subscription but its worth it... September 3, 2013

Web, mobile and tablet all work great with radio -- feels less bloated that Spotify as an experience and is great with its offline mode. Feels like I have my music collection in the cloud.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Service across platforms April 10, 2011

I've used this service on my Mac, iPhone, and now Android. It works great on all but the iPhone app wins hands down. The Android app is not quite as polished, but that seems to be the case on all Android apps -- hopefully it will catch up soon.
