Great, August 15, 2007
This review is from: Re: Pasolini (Audio CD)
Difficult but highly rewarding music. Stefano Battaglia is a gifted composer, at ease both with jazz and with contemporary music. This is a sumptuous double CD based upon the life and the work of Italian artist Pier Paolo Pasolini. CD 1 is simpler and more easily acceptable (it reminds me of the music of Eleni Karaindrou), while CD 2 is experimental but compellingly fascinating. Don't miss it!

A rare deep musical soul, June 9, 2007
This review is from: Re: Pasolini (Audio CD)
RE:Pasolini is making a great gift to the music's listeners having a deep soul. The Battaglia's sensibility is transforming in music our sentiments and he perfectly combine Pasolini's life and death in a really very rare poetry in music. Fantastic! Once again Manfred Eicher has discovered a genuine international talent.

An Extraordinary Collection of Brilliant Musical Ideas, March 22, 2009
This review is from: Re: Pasolini (Audio CD)
Battaglia's "Re: Pasolini" is a remarkable collection of works which move between highly evolved, sophisticated jazz into pointillistic and post-serial contemporary compositional techniques. The composer's pianistic excellence and inventiveness are blended with the work of several marvelous musicians to bring about a truly beautiful, thoughtful and exquisitely understated masterpiece.
