Yes, it does sound like fun. So why isn't it? After the novelty wears off, it all comes down to gameplay. The creators have reproduced the physics of driving cheap RC cars very accurately. Too accurately, in fact. All of the things that are annoying about RC cars in real life are also annoying in this game: the lack of variable steering, the way your car stops dead when it just brushes against a wall, the wide turning radius, and the slow speeds all combine for a singularly frustrating experience.
Most racing simulation games succeed when they reproduce the thrill of racing a real car. Unfortunately for Acclaim, reproducing the thrill of racing a 4-inch-high plastic toy running on AA batteries just isn't as much fun as it should be. --Eric Fredrickson

When I first got this game, I thought this would be just another racing game (as if there isn't enough already). After I played it for a few minuts though, I came to the conclusion that it was probably the best racing game since Rush 2.Pros: The graphics are great and run smoothly. There are over twentyfive cars. It is an good chalenge (for those of us that like chalenges). The tracks are set in cool places. There are good jumps that slow you down, but are fun. Remote Control racing finaly has representation in the video game world. Cons: Handling might take some geting used to. It can be a chalenge to folow a new track on your first lap. Difficult game for beginers. I would recomend this game for someone who is fairly experienced at playing on the Nintendo 64

I saw this game in stores about a month ago and figured id get it. I got it, popped it in and started playing it. It was awesome, graphics were amazing, sounds cool, nice gameplay! The graphics are even better with the Nintendo Expansion Memory Pak! I have been racing RC cars in real life for about a year or two, gas and electric. If you have never played with an RC car, and buy the game thinking its an easy arcade racer, its really not. I mean, the people that give this game horrible reviews, its because theve never played with an RC car. If you take a sharp corner, youll spin out.. Just like in real life. Acclaim didnt make this game do be another Mario Kart or Crash Team, it is very realistic. If you havent raced rc cars and have patiance, you will get the hang of it. Its verry fun and addictive. If you like rc cars or have a lot of patience, i would strongly recomend you buying this game right now!

I think the problem here is that I played the demo on my pc, which looks fantastic, before I bought it for the N64. Hmmmm. It is fun, really. Lots, I mean it. There's just too much going on. By that, I mean my poor little 64 (with the 4meg pac, for sure) just can't handle it. I reccomend only using the hi-res option in practice mode, which is the most fun I found here, otherwise the freaky blink kicks in and I wake up drooling in front of the tube with my wife preventing a tongue swallowing using salad tongs. I mean, come on, remove some detail, (detail? where? ) and smooth out the frame rate. This is probably where the problem starts. See: If you set the difficulty settings higher, it adds realism to the car's handling. It will spin out if you clip a corner, or flip over if you hit a curb, etc. But! (!) You can set it to kiddie level, and haul booty. It really is fun when you get the hang of it, but it looks so much prettier on the pc. And, i'd imagine, on the dreamcast (I wouldn't know). But, if all you have is a 64, and the price is right, go for it. If you like this game, I bet you would like the first Vigilante8, as well. -moon.
