TIFFANY THREADGOULD runs RePlayGround (replayground.com), where you can find ReMake It! recycling kits, learn about more DIY project ideas, or even contact her to chat about trashy crafts. She's also the head of design at TerraCycle (terracycle.net) where you can earn money for your favorite charity by collecting trash. She think that garbage has feelings too and can often be found talking to her pile of garbage at her design studio in BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
Tiffany Threadgould is a design junkie who gives scrap materials a second life. She's the founder of RePlayGround (www.replayground.com), where you can find ReMake It recycling kits and oodles of DIY projects. She's also the head of design at TerraCycle (www.terracycle.net).
Her recycled crafts have been featured in the New York Times, Everyday with Rachael Ray, and Time Out New York. She has appeared on CNN and on the National Geographic 4-part special, Garbage Moguls.(www.natgeotv.com/garbage). And now you can get a full dose of her upcycled crafts that you can create yourself in the book ReMake It! Tiffany thinks that garbage has feelings too and sometimes can be found talking to her pile of junk at her design studio in Brooklyn, NY.
This book is packed with creative, hands-on projects that are great for both kids and adults. The projects are made out of everyday items, so you won't have to run to the store every time you want to start a new project. Who knew learning about sustainability and upcycling could be so fun!
My favorite project so far is the Jelly Jar Drinking Glass (#88). Using the glass etching technique from this project, I also made a cute sugar jar to add some pizzaz to my kitchen. Next I'm going to try the Felted Sweater Potholder (#66) and the adorable Salt and Pepper Shakers (#87). Not only does this book make a great gift for a crafty friend, a lot of the projects themselves can be customized to give as personalized gifts!
When you've read through this book, you won't be able to look at garbage the same way!
What a great way to make your own funky-chic, give new life to things, and make some cool gifts to turn others on to the idea that "waste" is really just a lack of imagination.
This book is great, filled with crafting ideas for older children and creative adults. Younger kids can do many of the projects, too, with some assistance. And I love that the materials are objects found around the house, otherwise destined for the dump.
