4.0 out of 5 stars Makes Das Ich More Clubby, March 23, 2004

I can see both sides of this argument, but there is a happy medium. While it's true that this remix collection basically brings Das Ich's highly original sound more in line with mainstream electro, but that's fine if you want to dance to it. While you need to get "Egodram" and "Satanishe Versen" to get that real Das Ich feeling, this album is great when you want to put the Das Ich edge on pounding, club songs.

Here you have some of Das Ich's finer songs remixed by a number of major artists in the scene. My high point is the VNV Nation mix of "Destillat" which makes it dance-friendly w/o losing the great atmosphere; this is masterful remixing as only VNV can do it. The next is "He Mensch", transforming an otherwise forgetable track into a solid one. Other smixes are fine and serve their purpose.

Das Ich fans should get this for the great mixes and alterante versions of the originals. Club-goers who aren't big DI fans may even prefer this disc to others; I know many DJs who do. I howveer use this as a compliment to my Das Ich collection and really don't compare it to the orignal works. For new folks trying to get that perfect Das Ich moment, you need to get 'Egodram' and listen to the song "Von Der Armut", one of the best in industrial history.

5.0 out of 5 stars killer dancefloor album!, October 15, 1999

Das Ich come back in a big way with a SLAMMING collection of dancefloor oriented stompers! Highlights of this "greatest hits remixed" cd include remixes by Funker Vogt, And One and VNV Nation to name a few. A must have cd for all electro/industrial djs as well as anyone who wants to jump around their bedroom like crazy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Industial at its best, November 15, 2002
This review is from: Re_Laborat (Audio CD)
This CD makes for a great introduction to Das Ich. Of all the bands in this genre this is one that really stands out in my opinion. I heard a couple of songs at a local goth club and I was instantly hooked. I know pretty well nothing when it comes to the German language but I can tell what sounds good and this CD is upbeat and highly danceable plus it contains the one song that most people would associate the band with, Destillat. But to anyone that knows them only by that song, believe me there is so much more to be heard from Das Ich!

This album is filled with industrial and electro beats. Very danceable and even though its all in German, Das Ich sounds great! There are also remixes by vnv nation , and one, and funker vogt. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars mixed bag, February 7, 2006
This review is from: Re_Laborat (Audio CD)
This cd has a lot of loud good weird music, and i play it a lot. There's a whole lot of variety, as well.

Atrocity turns des satans neue kleider into an atrocity song, vnv nation turns destillat into a vnv nation song.. kalte farben does magical things with kain und abel, infusing it with raw emotion. L'ame imortelle's remix is very loud and well done, for dance music.

There are also some real stinkers. Kramm got the urge to destroy erde ruft. The he mensch remix is amateurish, unoriginal, and unlistenable. The exact same can be said for gottes tod. Der haß, die propheten, and aura are very boring and unrememberable.

Re_animat is an original das ich song. I find it extremely good. It's a minimalistic chanting business, with a lot more melody from kramm than we are normally accustomed. There are a lot of times i put in re_laborat, only to listen to re_animat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for dancing!! rrrmm.. It's not bad!!!, October 3, 2003

I do not agree with the other customer. I think it's true that Das Ich has many things that made them unique, but it's not a bad idea to make this remix album. I really recommend get Egodram first, but this one is very good for starters, though.

Get it, it's not Das Ich's BEST, but don't take it like a really Das Ich album, but a remix tribute. And well, I've seen that in the info it says "1CD"... I've seen around there one "2CDS" versions full of remixes, i guess it's an import title, but I reaally prefer to get that edition instead of this one.

(The Vnv Nation remix is superb!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Das Ich, the choice of Rivetheads everywhere, August 21, 2001
By
This review is from: Re Laborat (Audio CD)
This album really brought me around to Das Ich. Dragged in by the pure energy of the VNV Nation remix of Destillat, I began to listen to Das Ich more and more. Having heard what other artists have done to enhance or bring in their own flavor to Das Ich's work I have gained a real love for the original versions of these songs.

Das Ich is not for everyone, but if you like high energy, stomp inspiring music (like Funker Vogt or :Wumpscut:), this is a great choice. A great addition to any Industrial/EBM collection. I find their music some of the best music to dance to, actually I find it impossible to not dance to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be careful!!, June 15, 2009
This review is from: Re Laborat (Audio CD)
This is a treasure trove of remixes of Das Ich songs done by some of the most famous powerhouses in Electro music. The cd is breathtaking, and for those already fans of Das Ich, it is a whole new experience. But beware-Amazon states that this is the much desired 2-disc version. It is the single disc version. Turbomax6 was quick to respond to my inquiry, and they set me straight. Amazon made no attempt to fix the error or to compensate me for ordering a cd I already owned. In the long run, I accepted the cd from the seller, liking the imported versions to German bands anyway. Still, with my joy of getting the cd, Amazon sent me several formed emails, and ultimately did nothing. Sad. The music in this cd is top notch, and is a must-hear!

5.0 out of 5 stars Das Ich: accessible?, September 3, 2000
This review is from: Re Laborat (Audio CD)
although i wouldnt recommend this album for your first Das Ich purchase (try, Feuer, Staub or Egodram) it certainly is their most accessible and possibly their best. It has many amazing remixes, some possibly better than the originals (Destillat) but takes away some of Das Ich's orginal orchestral dark values and poetic inspiration and replaces them with hard dark dancy EBM styles. The album ends up being being a perfect remix album with all the songs being great remixes, and most sounding halfway inbetween Das Ich and the remixing band's style. But the best thing is to see the plethora of great bands pledging support to probably the best band of the 1990's.
