From the Back Cover

You don’t have to be the apostle Paul in order to share your faith. Relatively few of us are gifted in the area of evangelism. In fact, many of us have a rather dismal track record when it comes to sharing our faith. And yet, in spite of our evangelistic shortcomings, we want to share Jesus with others. Is there a way we can be involved in sharing the gospel without preaching like the apostle Paul? You may not be a gifted evangelist, but you do have the gift of servanthood. You can use that gift to reach out to your community with the love of God. For years Steve Sjogren has successfully used a simple approach called “servant evangelism” that allows any believer-regardless of gifting-to be involved in sharing God’s love with others. One of the great things about this approach is that you don’t have to do it alone. Sjogren offers 101 simple and effective ways your church or small group can demonstrate the love of God to those in your community. And when people see the love of God in action, they want to know more about Him. You can share your faith successfully -- here are 101 ways to get started!

About the Author

Steve Sjogren is the Founding Pastor of the Cincinnati Vineyard, a church that grew from five people to 7,500 in weekly attendance with his talent team's leadership. The unique feature of this church was they literally gave up after two years of struggling to achieve 'success' and made a fateful decision - to give everything away! Numbers, attendance - such matrix factors no longer were focused upon. What counted was simply "How many can we serve, love, show generosity to?" It wasn't long before scads of people were showing up.
Steve and Janie have pioneered from scratch either alone or with a team five launch teams around the U.S. and Europe using servant evangelism as a launch approach to loving their cities and redefining God away from a "Come to us" to a "We come, we show you" approach. "Invest, fling seeds, let God take care of the details" has worked well as a motto. Very high percentages of not-yet believers have been drawn to each of their churches, daughter and grand-daugher churches. They now are in Tampa working with teams of planters. Steve writes, coaches and speaks. He aspires to connect with at least five new not yet not-yet believers each day ('Not that difficult once you get the hang of it!' he says. Email him at SteveSjogren.com.

More About the Author

STEVE SJOGREN is the founding pastor of Vineyard Community Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, which he and his wife Janie started with a small group of 5 that ultimately grew under his leadership to a weekend attendance of over 6,000 attendees. In the course of that journey, Steve mentored numerous church planters who launched likeminded churches in the Ohio Valley. Steve is considered by many in the church world to be the father of servant evangelism - the notion that "the kindness of God brings us to repentance" (Rom. 2:4). In addition to pastoring, he is a sought after conference speaker and leadership coach through his network, ServeCoach.com. Steve leads several popular web sites including ServantEvangelism.com, ChurchPlanting.com and Kindness.com.

The first thing that I thought when I read this book is "every small group in our church needs a copy!". This is one of those remarkable books that can transform a church and the lives of a community.
It gave me hundreds of ideas for evangelism in my community. It is truly a great and much needed book.

101 Ways will launch you into the most practical and relevant way to open up peoples hearts to the mercy, forgiveness and love of Christ. After reading this book I felt the Holy Spirit, Christ's own special presence drawing me irresistably to act out kindness on Christ's behalf. I used to have my doubts whether kindness was an effective way to put people in touch with Christ. But there is no doubt that Steve Sjogren and 101 ways has changed my life forever. My mission statement after reading this book is: "To spend my life for the sake of kindness on Christ's behalf!" That's how much I believe in the power of kindness. I think God thought it was a pretty good idea too: "through kindness God leads us into a radical life change" (Romans 2:4 The Message). Kindness on Christ's behalf changed my life and I'm seeing it change the live's of people all around me both as they give kindness and as they receive kindness. Ready to get started? 101 ways will launch you into the greatest power of all: The power of Christ's kindness! Go for it!
Robert Pitman, Sr. Pastor Vineyard Community Church of Louisville

This book has great ideas for showing God's love in your community. My small group did the free car wash. People could not believe it! We told them no money and no donations were accepted. We had a major impact with some of the people.

Steve Sjogren is an innovative thinker! He really is determined to see Christians everywhere discover the incredible power of showing God's love to their community...with no strings attached. Sjogren succinctly unfolds "the basics" of Servant Evangelism in the first dozen pages and then cuts to the chase---providing 101 simple, field-tested projects that touch people's souls. This book "feels" less like reading and more like a warm conversation over coffee with a deep, trusted friend. I'm convinced that this book is not destined to be casually read, buried on the book shelf, or soon forgotten. I believe it is a book destined to be devoured---read a paragraph at a time while waiting for the traffic light to change green, and easily carried in your hip pocket. If you've had the desire to express your faith but have hesitated because you can't seem to find the right words... get ready, because real help has arrived! Whether you're a pastor, a small group leader, a new Christian, or a soccer mom, this book offers countless projects to inspire you and get you out the door and on your way to serving your community. Buy this book! Better yet, buy two. Carry one copy with you at all times and give the other to a friend.

Sjogren has done a great job at putting together many of the ideas that have succesfully worked for their church. We are currently using several of the ideas directly out of the book in our situation and they work great. The simplicity and practicality of this book makes it well worth the investment.

Steve Sjogren connects with very practical tips on delivering his increasing popular and effective servant evangelism. The book matches his creative humor and challenging style with penetrating insight. The book's candor about what doesn't work makes it all the more useful. I have had the chance to watch others respond to the book after hearing Steve's presentations at a recent conference. They were as eager as I was to take these practical suggestions with me to implement them in my community. 101 Ways is a useful tool and an incredible value.

I was so happy to see that Steve Sjogren had come out with another book on servant evangelism! Here in Mexico City we have been putting into practice the ideas presented in his first book, Conspiracy of Kindness. This new book gives us yet more creative ideas for evangelism, as well as some very practical help with some of the nuts and bolts of this kind of ministry.

We've given copies to the leaders in our local church here, and I plan to use copies of this book as gifts to friends involved in ministry.

I highly recommend it to anyone involved in evangelism or those who don't participate in evangelism because they feel intimidated by traditional methods.

Thanks Steve!
