Reach Up For The New Duran Duran!, November 23, 2004
This review is from: (Reach Up for the) Sunrise (Audio CD)
This one is worth pulling down off the shelves. The waiting is over, "Sunrise" is here. Bright, optimistic, upbeat electro-pop from the guys who invented the genre'. Just stick it in your CD Player and let it flow out of your stereo speakers. Go with the groove and turn on the lights. Your favorite band is back and they're as good, or better, than they've ever been. It's okay to come out of the closet and admit you've always been a Duranie. The Sunrise is here, it's a brand new day. Celebrate.
The single version here is the strongest mix of this song yet. Of the remixes, the "Cosmic Mix" works best for me. The others, especially the "Tribal Mix", I can take or leave. And is it too much to ask for some of these modern remixes to actually SOUND like the original song? "Know It All" is a curious studio creation that sounds like Nick and Simon messing around with a voice snythesizer at 3:00 AM. Still, it's a fun track.

It'll grow on you, October 25, 2004
This review is from: (Reach Up for the) Sunrise (Audio CD)
I have been a Duran Duran fan since I was 15 years old. And now being 34 and having my musical tastes having had changed over the years it took me a couple of times of listening to the album to get into it. Sunrise is awesome and certianly a good way to get everyone reinterested in D2. Bedroom Toys is a the funkiest and most fun song on the album, with infectious rapping of Simon Le Bon. Another favorite on the album is What Happens tomorrow, poignant and timely response of the band to what happened in NYC on 9-11.
I am thrilled that my teenage favorite group is back and has also shown the public they too have grown & evolved as a band too. Do buy this album you won't be sorry.

Awesome single -- breaks, acid trance, all good..., October 18, 2004
This review is from: (Reach Up for the) Sunrise (Audio CD)
I bought this single on a whim for the Ferry Corsten mix, and the single delivers across the board. I'm not particularly a Duran Duran fan, but found the single itself to be a fair and catchy single. However, the mixes are terrific!
The Adam G mix is a fun nu-school breaks mix with a bit of electro-style drums thrown in along with a funky mainline.
The Corsten mix is very much in his new (and excellent!) style a-la his Right Of Way album, which is more acid trance than "euphoric" or cheese trance.
Highly recommended!
