THE FAB 5 IS BACK. AND WHAT AN ENTRANCE.,

After 23 years the boys are back. I have long awaited the return of Duran Duran. The style of Sunrise shows some dramatic changes in Duran and they are of course well received. The use of the synth. vocals is awesome. Roger and Andy's styles are quickly noticable after 23 years of their absence. After their past flops with out the core group I am glad to see them all together again. We Love you Duran Duran.
Looking forward to my preordered CD and DVD of Astronaut. "Know it all" is an excellent B side as well.

This is an absolutely fantastic beginning to the new "old" Duran Duran! The song is wonderfully infectious, and takes me back to the old days when I listened to Rio over and over again. None of the Fab 5 has lost his energy or his sense of what Duran Duran is all about. A terrific, refreshing new beginning for one of the world's greatest bands! And Roger's cymbals sound sooooo much better - bravo on switching to Zildjian!

No doubt that this single marked the Big Five come back. Yes, their back together again!! And its really really a great single ever!! It's like the old days coming back again.... back to the glorious era of Duran Duran. Its a must have single to all duranies all around the world!! Its a very Duran Duran's style which combined Nick's touch with all the Taylors' style along with the sexy voice of Simon!!

Duran Duran is back and better than ever!,

AS a longtime Duran Duran fan, I have to admit that over the past 10 years or so I really lost interest in their music. Albums like Pop Trash and Medazzland never really appealed to me, and judging from the sales and reviews from critics, most everyone else in the world felt the same way. The lineup was a shadow of it's former self and it was truly reflected in their music.
Now that the whole band is back together, they have found their groove once again. "(Reach up for the)Sunrise" the first singel of their "Astronaut" LP is an uplifting, upbeat song that shows that these guys never lost it...it just took all of them getting back together to realize it. With Roger Taylor's "Girls on Flim" sounding drum line and Simon's suprisingly straightforward lyrics (remember, this is the guy who had lyrics like "Shake up the picture, the lizard mixture"), this song is sure to be a hit if the radio stations programmers get off their butts and relize that this is not just a one-off song from a nostalgic band, but a great song from a band that has managed to weather the ups and downs of the music industry for over 25 years! Give it a chance...Duran Duran will not let you down!

Reach Up For Duran Duran,

This one is worth pulling down off the shelves. The waiting is over, "Sunrise" is here. Bright, optimistic, upbeat electro-pop from the guys who invented the genre'. Just stick it in your CD Player and let it flow out of your stereo speakers. Go with the groove and turn on the lights. Your favorite band is back and they're as good, or better, than they've ever been. It's okay to come out of the closet and admit you've always been a Duranie. The Sunrise is here, it's a brand new day. Celebrate.

The boys are back in town, and as hot as ever! DD has a true hit on their hands with the song Sunrise. The b-side to this CD "Know It All" is very techy, very "Nick".... a must have for any Duranie that loves the old b-sides from the vinyl era!!!

The BEST!!!!,

This is such an amazing song!! All five members have reunited and it is like they never truly went away. There aren't enough adjectives to describe how strong this song is. It sounds better than anything I have heard on the radio in a looonnnnggg time.
They are outstanding and supremely innovative musicians. Simon and Nick kept it going through the years and I remained a faithful fan, but having the "original Fab Five" together simply creates moments of musical genius. Incredible stuff. John, Andy and Roger -- welcome back! I missed you...

Sunrise--very good! Know it all---FLAT!,

I just bought the single for the Know It All song that is not on their Astronaut album. While Reach Up for the Sunrise is very good and sounds like it was recorded in an arena in front of thousands of fans, I didn't like Know it All. Know is just eerie sounding and more of an instrumental song, with one member singing over a vocoder. Sometimes, you hardly know what they are singing in the song. I can see why they left it off of the Astronaut album, where the 12 songs on there are very superior. So while you're dancing to Sunrise, skip the CD button on Know it all. It sounds flat.

Where do I start?
"Sunrise" is one of the BEST songs from them in recent years. A fresh new start for the re-united band. Upbeat, positive, brings all the boys together to play in perfect harmony. It's what Duran Duran is: the sound, the style, all them with a touch of today. Definately hits the right note with its dancy-rocker feel and pounding percussion. Simon's voice never sounded so flawless, and the energy just jumps right off the CD and into your system! "Know it all" is a short piece taken from "Astronaut." It's pretty cool, the phrase "know it all" is chanted throughout the song. There's a lot more electronic going on here for this track. Playing around with sounds never sounded so cool. Yes, there's live playing on here, too. If you're looking for "Sunrise" and a true B-side, then get this! This song is one of their finest! Don't pass it up! Also, buy "What Happens Tomorrow Pt.2" single for the B-side "Silent Icy River," you'll fall in love with it and wished it could've been a song all on its own! |
