This book is for beginners. It could whet your appetite for more. Most chapters are very brief. They highlight a valid topic but give insufficient understanding of the key point for a valid praxis. The reader will need to search elsewhere to develop competence. It is designed for Christians to use in haste and has the sense of a time oriented culture commenting about how to work with an event oriented culture. My concern is that this rapid approach will not take seriously or respectfully the beliefs of Muslims. I would describe the book like an entre in a restaurant. It gives you a brief taste of a new flavour. If you like it you can order more.

Format: Paperback
In 'Reaching Muslims' Nick Chatrath gives a well-rounded overview of Islam; yet he does so with the caveat that not every Muslim believes exactly the same thing. Chatrath encourages readers to make open-hearted friendships with Muslims, asking them questions about their beliefs and traditions, genuinely desiring to hear their answers.

The book is generally geared toward Christians wanting to know more about Islam, and as such, it answers pertinent questions like, "Should Christians call God 'Allah'?", "Should Christians eat halal meat?", and more. Yet this is a book that anyone can pick up to learn more about Islam. There are handy little boxes that explain things like the five pillars or Islam, who Mohammed was, what the Qur'an is/is about, etc. In the end of the book Chatrath gives outlines for leading Bible studies with Muslims who are interested in Jesus and the Bible.

'Reaching Muslims' is a very good mix of information, making personal connections with Muslims, and practical teaching tools. It is a 'must-have' book for anyone living near Muslims or wanting to know more about Islam.
