Book Description

September 1994
As the patient, Charles Roberts, allowed himself to go deeper into trance, his guardian spirit "Yan Su Lu" took control and assented to providing answers to some of Dr Jussek's questions as long as Robert's soul wasn't compromised.  The resulting question/answer session deals with specifics related to the subject's condition and advises regarding a multitude of questions related to human existence.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Individual consciousness can tap into collective human consciousness much like a PC can access the internet.  --Dr Ernest Senkowski, the pioneer of "transinstrumental communication" offered the following revue of "Reaching for the Oversoul"

from the book's introduction:

This is a remarkable and special book using hypnotherapy and past-life regression --famous author and psychiatrist Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, MD

From the Author

As a medical doctor I was treating a patient who had unresolved psychological stress which made him aggressive to his wife and caused anxiety and depression.  To determine the root cause of his malaise I hypnotized him and, in that relaxed state, he allowed me to interview his spirit protector, Yan Su Lu.

The result was a series of question-answer sessions with Yan Su Lu about my patient and his previous incarnations including those of Colin O'Brian, an IRA warrior and of James Stewart, a banker in 19th century England.  The identities have been verified since the interviews.

More About the Author

Dr. Eugene Jussek, M.D. earned his medical degree at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and specialized at the University hospitals in Internal Medicine and Psychosomatics in the Jung tradition. After his Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Jussek supplemented his training with post graduate work at different hospitals in the U.S.A. including the Bellevue Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Jussek considers mind body and soul as a whole and frequently used hypnosis as an adjunctive form of therapy.

Dr. Jussek is associated with Providence St Joseph's Medical Center of Burbank, California. He closed his private practice in 1998 and lives in Encino, California. In addition to his private practice, which included alternative healing methods, Dr. Jussek has been a consultant to the German Consulate in medical matters, in particular to patients with Holocaust survival history. On account of this activity he was recommended by the Orthodox Jewish Rabbinate of America to Chancellor Kohl to receive the distinction. This recommendation was forwarded in 1985 to the German Consulate General in Los Angeles, CA. Dr Jussek also served as a Company Physician for Lufthansa German Airlines for approximately 30 years.

Dr. Jussek is an internationally renowned expert on Cell Therapy. His medical research project included early research in Cell Therapy which was recognized in scientific presentations by the Pan American Medical Congress in Mexico City in 1960 and again in Miami Florida in 1965. He was the first medical doctor ever to present this groundbreaking topic in the United States. A milestone was the first ever review of early European Cell Therapy papers in an American Journal in 1970 with his associate, Dr. Arno Roscher , an acclaimed pathologist. Dr. Jussek co-authored with Dr. Roscher a seminal paper "Critical Review of Contemporary Cellular Therapy (Cell Therapy) which was published in the prestigious American Journal of Gerontology, edited at that time by Dr. Birren, Professor and Chair of Gerontology at the University of Southern California School of Medicine (Journal of Gerontology, 1970, vol 25 No 2 pages 119 - 125, E. Jussek, MD and A.A. Roscher MD. in 1970). This highly influential paper described for the first time in an American medical journal the birth of cell therapy in Europe in the 1930's and outlined the use of embryonal cells for therapeutic transplantation in many different animal models as well as patients with very diverse diseases. Tobias Raabe, PhD, Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Department of Genetics, writes: "The relatively recent discovery of human embryonic stem cells in 1998 has refocused attention to this paper because it allows re-interpretation of the earlier research: Human embryonic stem cells are the only cell type that can give rise to all types of fetal and adult stem cells. Fetal and adult stem cells in turn are precursors to all terminally differentiated cells of the body. It is now clear that the embryonal cells' described in Dr. Jusseks and Dr. Roschers review are in fact a mixture of fetal and early adult stem cells that have the capacity to integrate into many different types of injured tissues and organs.

Collectively, these early and initially controversial studies can now be considered the precursor to today's regenerative medicine: They have shown for the first time that therapeutic transplantation of embryo - derived cells (called initially 'embryonal cells') can improve outcome for an exceptionally wide variety of diseases. In fact, these ground breaking papers documented the first successful use of stem cells for therapeutic transplantation. Therefore, these early studies generate a high degree of confidence that modern regenerative medicine, which is based on the use of human embryonic stem cells (hESC) as well as the very recently discovered induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), will ultimately be successful."

5.0 out of 5 stars A new Gary Zukoff, February 23, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Reaching for the Oversoul (Paperback)
I wish Oprah would read this book and feature Eugene Jussek on her show. He is another Gary Zukoff!

This book is about finding our own higher selves. Written by a medical doctor of great depth and sensitivity, it explores the possibility of reincarnation, while never trying to prove it.

As the title suggests, Reaching for the Oversoul, is about reaching deep within our selves for our own higher nature, wise counsel and guide. It is the story of a medical man and his journey to make sense of one patient's problems.

So many of life's questions are explored in this book. A thought provoking read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A serious Study to reveal Inner Wisdom, April 22, 2002
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Reaching for the Oversoul (Paperback)
As a medical assistant/secretary in the Internal Medicine practice of Eugene G. Jussek, MD, I had the privilege of attending the early hypnosis sessions with Charles Roberts and was witness to the ultimate ermergence of Yan Su Lu. Conversations under hypnotic trance would be recorded in shorthand and then transcribed. Dr. Jussek has reproduced these sessions exactly as they transpired and no changes, additions or omissions are noted. Eugene G. Jussek, MD, is a skilled physician and hypnotist who takes great care to protect the patient from harm and danger. He continuously moves the subject away from frightful experiences, and goes to a safe place and time that permits unemotional review and analysis of events. In this space beyond time, Dr. Jussek would ask the "friend" or "teacher" from the other side (that resides in all of us) to come through and report on the lessons learned by the subject during that particular lifetime. When Yan Su Lu was willing to continue dialogue through the merium of Charles Roberts, a journey was untertaken into the realm of wisdom as it is found in the collective unconscious. Such knowlege and understanding is not only the essence of this book, but it addresses many current questions raised by the serious seeker of Truth. "Reaching for the Oversoul" is a must read not only for those seeking answers from the beyond, but also for the serious practitioner of medical hypnosis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clarification by Author, July 27, 2009
By
This review is from: Reaching for the Oversoul (Paperback)
I am the author of this book. This is not a review. I would just like to clarify an error in the in the U.S. edition of my book Reaching for the Oversoul which the reviewer J. Conway picked up on.

The U.S. edition states that King Edward ruled England before Queen Victoria; this is an error which only appears in the US edition of my book, not in the German, Irish or Italian editions. These editions clearly state:

"After the long reign of Queen Victoria, England was ruled by King Edward."

The error in the U.S. edition is a regrettable oversight which will be corrected in any subsequent U.S. editions. Readers interested in my work can contact me through my Website: [..]
