An informative, wonderful, and chilling read - I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the CE4 phenomenon. This book gives the reader a good look at what it is like both to be an experiencer, and to be a therapist who works with experiencers. It has a lot of excellent insights for both. What I liked most was that Constance avoided interjecting her own views on the close encounter phenomenon. I also liked Constance's appendix material, including her example Ericksonian induction.

It is not about Aliens that are perhaps here and that maybe they are abudcting people like you and I. It is also not about trying to determine their motives and other clandestine reasons behind the abductions. Throw out the word 'maybe' and as for hypothesis'.....well, you will be trying to reach for a comforting one by the time you finish reading this engrossing book. The author and the 'experiencers' that are from all walks of life clearly demonstrate to us that our cozy little reality is not what it seems. Fascinating reading for anyone not only interested in the abduction process but how these unwanted intrussions affect the abductee's life as well as those around them. Professionally researched and documented by a clinician who thouroughly understands the psycholigical dynamics that are involved. Highly recommended.

The fact that Constance doesn't offer any hypothesis of her own is uniquely refreshing. Where else are you going to find seven first hand accounts of alien abduction?

Constance Clear lets the abductees tell their stories in their own words, and boy are they doozies! Of particular interest in the complex case of Daniel, which in many ways parallels that of Betty Luca. The final story about Sara is a MUST-READ for those of us who are involved in this phenomena who want to learn how to overcome their fears.

No evidence is provided in this book that any of the alleged abductees experienced alien abductions. One of the subjects, Andrew, aged 60 in spring 1996 had experienced a lifetime of anxiety, depression and panic attacks. Another, Kay, said her childhood years were fun, her teenage ones frightening. She says she remembers seeing an alien at the age of six months. Another, David, says that he found himself weeping over a car commercial and that he got Prozac from a physician for depression.
Evidently, the subjects in this book experienced some kind of trauma. My feeling after reading it was that the "alien abductions" were perhaps mental constructs to disguise other forms of trauma. In no case does anyone think to install closed-circuit cameras to film the arrival of the aliens. There are extracts from Kay's diary included and on entry states, "The last thing I remember seeing was the foot of the bed, and then I went up through the closet. For some unknown reason, they sure do like transporting through closets." At no time do any of the subjects in the book consider that their abductions might be mental rather than physical in nature, which might possibly explain her sensation, if she was accurately reporting what happened.
Whitley Strieber is quoted on the back cover stating that the book "is light years beyond any book about the strange and controversial subject of alien abduction that your have ever read or heard of."

An excellent UFOlogy book, one that the interested person must have in their collection. Constance Clear offers her case studies of people and families experiencing Extraterrestrial Visitation and Encounters. She develops her studies in an interesting and enlightening manner.
