This book is a complete mess!!,

This review is from: Read Between My Lines: The Musical and Life Journey of Stevie Nicks (Paperback)
This book is one of the most difficult biographies to read. It's not written in chronological order, the chapters jump all over the place, subject matter changes without warning. It reads as if it was written by a junior high school english student writing a report the morning before it was due. ALL quotes in the book come from previously published interviews. Timelines and facts are wrong. Certain events get nothing more than a mere sentence at the end of a chapter. For instance Fleetwood Mac's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1998 is mentioned in one sentence in the chapter about the "Say You Will" album from 2003. The author uses different interviews from different years to tell the stories and the result is often disjointed and confusing. The whole thing is a mess. Stevie's life story is interesting for sure, this book just isn't the one to tell it. If you know nothing at all about Stevie I suppose you might find something in the book, but if you've been a fan for any length of time, you will be very disappointed.

I'm a huge fan of Stevie as well as Fleetwood Mac so I was eagerly anticipating some good info. The title says it all. There were no direct interviews with Stevie. The book jumped all over the timeline. You'd think by he chapter headings it was in a bit of a chronological order, but it wasn't. I felt like I was reading someone's extended college term paper with all the footnotes. You could get the whole last chapter by reading Stevie's website. I agree with the other reader to wait for the autobiography. This was the author's first book, but she needs to stick to a subject that is more familiar with her.

Wait for Stevie to write her own book,

This is an extremely disappointing book. In fact, I donated my copy to the local library after I skimmed through it because it had absolutely no information in it that you couldn't find yourself on the Internet. And if you're a diehard fan you already own all the articles that are used to piece this patchwork quilt of a book together. Wait for Stevie to write her autobiography!

Sandra, I don't know who your contacts were but it's a wonder you spelled Stevie's name correctly. I have never read a biography with more inaccuracies than you log in at. In additon, I can't help but wonder if those postive reviews are from friends of yours. How can anyone with any literary sense call this book a good read? Despite getting the facts wrong --- it bounces around more than a bouncing rubber ball at a dodgeball game in which the participants are blind! There is no chronological order at all. It's as if you just repeated a bunch of quotes you heard over and over -- never bothering to verify the info at all while just kept listing one after another. Like the "Planets of The Universe" - you should "Go Your Own Way" and leave Stevie and her true fans alone. I wish I could give this book negative stars!

First of all, this author appears to never have even spoken to Stevie Nicks. The book is full of innacuracies and at one point she even gets the title of Stevie and Kenny Loggins duet wrong.Dont bother read it!

The author gets song names wrong, photo captions wrong, and jumps all over the place chronologically.

HI Stevie fans,Over the years I've been involved in several Stevie e-posters and websites sharing deep info on Stevie Nicks, her life and songwriting. Though I sometimes enjoy reading "independent" writers at times, this book is a fiasco. I was able to read just a couple of pages from this Amazon website and discovered several errors and wrong info on Stevie. From saying Stevie moved to Arcadia Ca and went to High School there, and knowing fully well she lived in Atherton Ca in Northern Ca, and went to high school there was enough for me. She played in the band Fritz in the Bay Area with Lindsey Buckingham if I'm sure many can attest.....all anyone would have to log on youtube and type in Fritz to see the info gathered there of her early years in the Bay Area. She did go to LA with Lindsey during the Buckingham Nicks years before being "discovered" by Mick, but Sandra's book is scattered like 'dreams" in the "midnight wind"....Bob of CA(of prodigy legend)

Buy Carol Ann Harris's book or wait for Stevie's OWN book someday,
By
This review is from: Read Between My Lines: The Musical and Life Journey of Stevie Nicks (Hardcover)
This book is all hearsay and nothing new. I would suggest buying either Carol Ann Harris's book to read about some of the REAL behind-the-scenes stuff about Fleetwood Mac and Stevie from the Rumours era on (and please note with caution, Ms. Harris still seems to treat Stevie as a rival for Lindsey's affections, so I think a lot of her stories may lean towards her being in that position....in other words, they are not very pro-Stevie)....OR you could wait for Stevie to write her own book (recommended). Being a Stevie Nicks fan myself, I do sincerely hope that she DOES write her autobiography eventually - she has talked about it, and also talked of possibly making a movie of her life...but so far (much to the fans' dismay), no results.

Nothing New Here,

If you are a real Stevie Nicks fan, there is nothing new here. Sandra Halliburton obviously likes Stevie, but this book does not get down to the nitty gritty of Stevie's songs or life.

Don't Bother!!,
By AU Dust "AU Dust" (Colorado) - See all my reviews

Save your $$ and don't bother with this book!!! Another reviewer said it, too...it's disorganized. It is jumbled with various quotes plus a sentence or two of the author's opinion. Basically, it reads as if Ms. Halliburton did a search on the web for "Stevie Nicks quotes" and cut and pasted them into a Word document, then got it published. THE AUTHOR IS WRONG in several areas including citing the wrong name for a few of Stevie's songs!! NO credibility with this author!! I've been a huge Stevie and Fleetwood Mac fan since 1976. Believe me, if you are a fan too, you will NOT learn anything new, or gain any insight into Stevie's songs. If you're just getting discovering Stevie's music, get her Enchanted Box Set...you'll learn more about Stevie's songs in a few paragraphs than you will in this book.
