I remembered learning to read in English from the Dick and Jane books and had been looking for them for years. On a whim I searched the title on Amazon and found this book. Wow! When it came, I couldn't wait to go to my sister's house and try it on 6-year-old Sofia. Right before her mother's astounded eyes, and while she cooked dinner, Sofia began to read. First haltingly, then with more and more confidence and by the end of the two hours it took for her to read the whole book she was reading like a pro. Every once in a while she'd look at me and whisper "Mannina, I can read." The look of elation on her face was priceless. She's been voraciously reading ever since. I got the book back and last Sunday after supper and while my son, his wife and all the in-laws were discussing politics in the living room, I called aside my four-year-old granddaughter Isabella. We sat quietly in the dinning room and opened the page to this incredibly magical book. Just like Sofia, Isabella began to read. At first doubting herself, then as we turned page after page and she gained confidence the speed came up. As we were about 50 pages into the book her mother came to see what we were doing and she couldn't believe her ears. Her daughter was reading. Needless to say, I thoroughly recommend Dick and Jane.

This book is exactly as I remembered it from childhood. Love having this to share with my own children. Brought back many childhood memories.

These are the BEST books. My 4 yr. old granddaughter has taught herself how to read with Dick and Jane. They have all the sight words that you are required to know through first grade. I recommend parents go the extra distance and try to get your kids to read these before they start school.
