I bought this book last year...thinking a grandchild might like it...Then I looked at it and was not terribly inspired...BUT..my 7 and 3/4 year old granddaughter visited this last 3 weeks and she latched on to it immediately and read almost the entire Bible by herself...It certainly struck the right note with her.She was more interested in reading it to herself than with me. I think she liked the easy visibility of the reading page, with the paragraphs in different colors..

This is a great age-appropriate bible for my K, 1st and 2nd graders! They have a little trouble with the names (but that's why it's a read along, right?) but otherwise can pick up this bible, read it and really get the message.

Have purchased 2 (one for each daughter) as they entered First grade. They enjoy the stories (very condensed versions) whether they read them out loud or if a parent reads it to them. The quality of the book is sturdy for small hands and the pictures are well illustrated. The summaries and side notes really seem to engage the girls so that reading is not a chore but rather something they willingly desire to read.
