5.0 out of 5 stars A WONDERFUL STORY!
My son received the Read With Me DVD System and all the DVDs as an early Christmas present from his uncle. After a week this DVD and the Dr. Seuess one are his two favorites. 2.0 out of 5 stars Product Misleading!
Grandma bought the Curious George "DVD" for my 2 children and their cousin. We popped it in to our DVD player and tried using our DVD remote and it didn't work. I read the package and the box and nowhere does it tell you "Only for use with the Read With Me Controller". Even at the Fisher Price website it is not explained very articulately. Apparently you need to...

5.0 out of 5 stars A WONDERFUL STORY!, December 19, 2005

My son received the Read With Me DVD System and all the DVDs as an early Christmas present from his uncle. After a week this DVD and the Dr. Seuess one are his two favorites. This DVD has a charming story about Curious George visiting a chocolate factory. It has a fun game where kids can make their own chocolate candy and design a machine. It also teaches new vocabulary. One part of the story teaches the children what "curious" means so they understand why George has his name. I like that my son is learning new words, listening to an entertaining story, and enjoying himself at the same time. I would recommend this DVD to be purchased if someone is wondering which ones in the series to buy. It is much better than some of the others.

I read the package and the box and nowhere does it tell you "Only for use with the Read With Me Controller". Even at the Fisher Price website it is not explained very articulately. Apparently you need to purchase a $25 "system" (aka-special remote control) that you program to interface with your own home DVD remote control and DVD player.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT a DVD, February 23, 2006

Please be aware that this is not a DVD for use in a DVD player. It is a disc made only for the "Read with Me DVD Learning System". This was not clear in the item description and my daughter was in tears when her birthday present wouldn't work. I felt really bad for her and feel mislead.

I enjoy seeing my twin four year old son's play with the Read with Me DVD program and CD's. The children are learning as they play. I see them recalling information and reviewing parts of the story. This educational toy is very engaging.

The only problem I have with this toy is sometimes if the child is not on level with the DVD player it takes several tries to get the DVD player to respond to the remote.

My 2 year old loves this story. He especially loves how Curious George ends up eating all of the banana cream chocolates. We play this game a lot but not as much as 'Where The Wild Things Are'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy, January 10, 2006
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

This is a cute story, just like the cartoons and books we had growing up. My 3 year old loves the game where you invent your own candies.
About the system: It's perfect. Like the story videos we used to have where the words light up at the bottom of the screen as the narrator reads them, except the pictures (true to original artwork) are totally animated AND there's interactive games and questions about the story.
The guy is right about them not working with computers. The controller is basically a special remote control for the DVD player. It does work fine with small portable DVD players that have remotes, like the ones for car trips.
My daughter recieved her own TV with DVD from her grandfather for Christmas. I did not approve of her watching TV all the time in her room, so I decided she could only play the Read with Me DVD's. She loves them and plays almost daily. The controller is very kid friendly. At 3 1/2 my daughter can use it all by herself.

I was very disappointed when I received this product. It was old, outdated and looked like something that would be sold at a dollar store. It also needs to be used with the Fisher Price Read with Me Learning System which is not indicated anywhere in the product description. Do not buy this item. It is a total ripoff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun and learning!, February 20, 2007
This review is from: Read With Me - Curious George (Toy)
My toddler loves the Read With Me DVD system. This Curious George DVD for the system allows you to turn "pages" on your own, let the system read the story to you, or play fun learning games. My toddler enjoys the game particularly where you select parts and flavors for the candy making machine, then wait for Curious George's reaction when he eats your latest concoction. The entire premise of the Read With Me DVD system is good, the DVD's themselves are excellent and fun learning tools, however, be careful with the required controller you must purchase. Just a couple of fat fingered double pokes of a button, and you end up having to reprogram the whole thing again. But, my toddler loves it, learns a lot from the games, and has discovered that she can also use her "remote control" when we are playing regular movie DVD's. The controller has held up for over a year with frequent use (and the occasional drop) from a two-to-three year old.

5.0 out of 5 stars George is great!, August 19, 2006
This review is from: Read With Me - Curious George (Toy)
My daughter got this along with the Read With Me system for her 3rd birthday. She is madly in love with the George DVD. There are fun games in addition to the very cute story. If you have this system, your kid will love this story.
