This review is from: 26 Read & Write Mini-Books: Beginning Sounds From A to Z: Interactive Stories That Give Early Readers Practice Reading and Writing Words That Begin With Each Letter of the Alphabet (Paperback)
I actually expected them to be more, but that is my own fault for not doing my reasearch. It is definitely too simplistic for my 5 year old, but works well for my 4 year old. Also, it is a reproducable set, so it is all in black and white. Each book consists of one sentence that is broken down. For example the A mini-book. "An Alligator" with a picture of an alligator on the cover. Page 1: An Alligator and an ape..... Page 2 has the word ape with the "a" being traceable and a picture of an alligator and an ape. Page 3: An alligator and an ape share their apples..... Page 4 has the word apples with the "a" being traceable and a picture of an alligator and ape eating from a bushel of apples. Page 5: An alligator and an ape share their apples with the ants. Page 6 has the word ants with the "a" being traceable and a picture of several ants walking away from alligator and ape with apple cores. Page 7 has each of the following. alligator, ape, apples and ants listed as such... picture - traceable word with the "a" missing in front for kids to write it in themselves.

It is in all lowercase letters with the exception of the beginning of the sentence. These are designed to be double sided, but I would not recommend doing that because you would have trouble with bleed through of markers or possible tearing from them being written on. I am using these in my homeschool curriculum to reinforce letter sounds and for an emergent reader, it works well. They do get bored with them quickly though.
