Great for non-readers, too!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Best Read-It-Yourself Book Ever! (Giant Little Golden Book) (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my 2 year old Busytown lover. The book has simple stories that are a good next step after baby books. The stories are longer and the pictures keep their attention. We read it so often that we will surely need to purchase a new copy when we are ready to learn to read.

My kids(ages 8 & 11) have had this book since they were toddlers, and still like to look at it and read the stories. The stories are short and funny, and will engage new readers. It's one of my favorite Richard Scarry books, and I give it as a gift to 3-5 year-olds often.

Cole's Favorite Storybook!,
By Grandson Crazy (Arlington, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Richard Scarry's Best Read-It-Yourself Book Ever: A Collection of 12 Easy to Read Stories (Hardcover)
This is my grandson's favorite bedtime storybook. The 12 stories are each about 14-16 pages long with 2-6 story lines per page. Great illustrations take up approx. 2/3 of each page. You can spend 10-15 minutes on each story.
One story is about Farmer Pig, (who loves pickles), another about 2 cats who go fishing and have lots of adventures, and one about Freddie Fox who goes to the doctor. There's one story about a robber, and I didn't like explaining to Cole what a robber was. He loves the little green ants that appear throughout the book, either watching the action or in their ant-size vehicles. Instead of just reading the story, I ask Cole questions about "what is that" and we describe everything in the pictures. Lots of fun! To keep from having to read unlimited stories, I ask "do you want to read one story or two?". I like that the book is not too heavy, even at 188 pages.

This is my daughter's favorite book...We had to replace it because our first copy is totally wore out.
