Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Gr. 2-4. This book from the I Like Biographies series traces the life of Annie Oakley, who rose from childhood poverty to become an acclaimed sharpshooter. While the text doesn't convey much excitement, it tells Annie's story clearly in relatively short sentences. The spacious page design allows for a paragraph or two on each left-hand page, facing a bordered illustration on the right. Most of the pictures are sepia-toned portrait photographs, though a few prints from posters are also included. A brief time line and short supplemental lists of children's books and Web sites are appended. Other recent entries in the series profiles Amelia Earhart, Benjamin Franklin, and Geronimo.
