What a great find! I ran across this bible at a Christian Bookstore and purchased it for my 4 year old daughter. And it is a great hit with both of us. The stories are short but in depth enough for ages 3-10. The songs that accompany each story are very catchy and reinforces the story. This is a must have bible for every child. It's cheaper on amazon and I'm buying a few more to give as gifts this Christmas. The DVD "reads" the story and has music and sound effects with it. The children can also follow along in the book.

I have fallen in love with this bible. You will not go wrong if you purchase this.

This product is truly not what I expected. Rather than animated depictions of Bible stories, the DVD presents still cartoons of scenes and narrates over them: quite boring for me and my 6-year-old. More tiresome still is what fills the gaps between these tableaux dormant, which is line after line of the printed word on the screen in the format of 'follow-the-bouncing-ball'. It was so monotonous that my child and I could stand no more than 5 minutes of it. We put the book and the DVD aside and instead tuned in to YouTube to watch Bible stories there, which really hold a youngsters attention and is what I expected of this product when I spent my 15 Yankee dollars on it. Please, don't waste your money for, IMO, it is a not worth a dime. How any consumer can give this chintzy item more than one star is beyond me.

My 3 1/2 yr old daughter got this for Christmas and i was excited! We started using it for our bed time reading. She become obsessed with the violence of it. It does paraphrase and shorten the stories but for some reason it leaves the death and killing intact. It is 'weird' how it uses kind voices and a gentle tone to say things like "lets kill him and throw him in an empty well" (spoken by joseph's brother).
Some parents may be alright with this but we don't let our kids watch violent television until they can understand the content.

Read 'n' See DVD Bible by Stephen Elkins is a simple beginning reader Bible and also suitable for pre-schoolers not yet able to read. The pictures are bright and cartoonish and on every page. The book comes with a DVD which uses the same cartoonish illustrations and interesting voices to read the book to the child. Each Bible story (Old and New Testament) is a very simplified version of many of the most significant Biblical characters, with the lesson of each story emphasized in a one-liner

Kids' Bibles can't cover everything, but there is a glaring omission in this book: there is no account of original sin, the curse, and God's promise of redemption. Without this, there is no reason for the rest of the book.

I noticed this tonight when my four-year-old asked why Adam and Eve weren't wearing any clothes. A great opportunity, I thought, to carry on to the next story where they got their clothes. Only the story wasn't there. I flipped back and forth several times, checking the page numbers, thinking surely the pages were stuck together or the kids had ripped them out. No such thing: this book just doesn't have original sin in it. It goes straight from God creating Eve to Noah.

Gobsmacked.

Great color, great artwork, great all around look. But, as one other reviewer mentioned, it doesn't talk about original sin, the curse, etc. I have not read the whole book, BUT, how can you go from the Red Sea and then straight to Balaam's donkey talking? YOU SKIPPED THE GIVING OF THE LAW!!!! This is totally inexcusable.

I know animals are cute and stories are nice and that you can't fit everything in a kids book (not bible) like this BUT, come on! Certainly Samson could have been left out. You skipped the 10 Commandments? Huge oversight. Sorry you did that Thomas Nelson.

The book is divided up in to stories. You can read it as a book, or it also comes w/ a DVD. The DVD says exactly what the book says & has the words on the bottom of the screen, so you can read it as a book, just watch the DVD, or follow along in the book w/ the DVD. On the DVD, @ the end of each story is a short song also.
My only fault w/ it is, if in the book it tells you that story is Chapter 25 on the DVD, you need to double that & go to about 50 to find the story that matches the story you're looking at in the book. On the DVD, Ch 1 will be the 1st story, Ch 2 will be the song that follows the 1st story. Ch 3 will be the 2nd story, Ch 4 will be the song following the 2nd story, & so on. I thought it was confusing to find the proper chapter on the DVD that goes w/ the book until I figured out I needed to double it to find it. Otherwise, great investment, & my 4 y/o loves it!

This is a must for any family with children, or grandchildren. My 4 year old daughter BEGS to watch this, and can't stand missing any of it!! She would literally watch this over and over and over in the same day if I would let her. She sings the songs in the car, in the house, and everywhere we go.

The only complaint I have is that I don't have the words written down with the music so I can't use this in my church classroom readily. I want to teach these songs to all children!
