2.0 out of 5 stars no Android sharing limits this app's usefulness March 12, 2012
Verified Purchase
I agree with the other reviewers. You cannot easily share or copy links or pages from other Android apps into Readability, greatly limiting Readability's usefulness on Android. ReadItLater and EverNote are full-featured multi-platform cloud-based services that do allow you to import articles via sharing from other Android apps, so I recommend either of those instead of Readibility. I frequently share links or articles from Google Reader or Google News or a browser to ReadItLater on my Android phone so I can read the article later when I need it or when I have more time or on a tablet or PC with a bigger screen. If Readibility ever adds a sharing feature, then I may look at it again at that time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Use Android functionality! March 12, 2012

Really getting irritated of companies that put out products that are simply lame iOS ports as Android apps. The entire world doesn't revolve around iOS. Android has great sharing tools that can be used to make using an app similar to this very easy to use. USE THEM!

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs some work March 12, 2012

The functionality present works well and it looks great, but it is limited. It doesn't take advantage of the sharing capabilities of Android and Read it Later is better in most ways.

1.0 out of 5 stars iOS app March 13, 2012
Verified Purchase
This application is pretty but doesn't adhere to Android design guidelines at all. Why doesn't it share via intents? Why is it using iOS icons for sharing? Where is the action bar? Why does it have an in app back button? Honestly I'm not sure how this made it past Amazons review process in its current state.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good start March 12, 2012
Verified Purchase
The app looks nice, but is clearly just an iOS port. Little telltales, like "Back" and "Done" buttons in the settings menu, show this. A key feature is missing: sharing to the app. The only way that one would be able to add articles to their reading list from their phone would be to email the URL to themselves.

A good start, but Readability has a long way to go before it replaces ReadItLater.

3.0 out of 5 stars beautiful but no share support? March 12, 2012
Verified Purchase
Beautiful look but missing two very important features. I can't share out to it (no intents for urls), and I can only share out from it to a built in static list. This is Android, use the services available!

1.0 out of 5 stars doesn't work on kindle fire April 14, 2012
Verified Purchase
I'm an avid reader but hate reading on the Kindle Fire's Silk browser. So I like apps designed for reading like Pulse. I love to save articles for later reading and after reading several reviews across the internet, settled on Readability since it was also available in the Amazon app store.

I downloaded the Readability app and then proceeded to sign up for an account and set up my desktop browser as it instructs you to do. After all of that, I go back to the app on my Kindle Fire and expected it to start sync'ing & downloading my reading list. Nada, nothing!

The app kept "checking for updates..." constantly but never was able to truly sync with my Readability account. I've uninstalled & reinstalled the app 4 times without any success. On the flipside, I installed the iOS version on my iPhone 4 and the app immediately sync'd as expected.

I'm very disappointed with Readability and their lack of quality control with the android version in the Amazon app store. With its "Send to Kindle" feature, Readability could have hit a home run but whiffed big time instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not designed for Android March 13, 2012
Verified Purchase
At this time, it felt like an alpha build with major features missing. The app looks and acts too much like an iOS app. Because of that, it is missing a lot of the functionality we are used to in Android (Like Sharing intents and fragments). If we would have wanted these limitations, we would have bought an iPhone. I think it is time for the developer to learn the platform *before* they start building apps for it...

I might install again if someday it is updated to use an Android UX and features. Till then, I guess I don't need it or want it.

Note to developers: If I were you, I'd pull this app off the store and redo it. This is going to kill your reputation on Android.
