Monotonous, January 26, 2006
This review is from: Reader Rabbit: The Great Alphabet Race (DVD)
I bought this video for my 2 1/2 year old son to give him different exposure to alphabet videos. He loves the Reader Rabbit Toddler CDROM, so I thought the video would be good. WRONG. The Alphabet Song that they use is l-o-n-g and monotonous! The story is ok, but the "not-so-catchy" tune is at the start of the video and is VERY difficult to sit through. If you haven't purchased it yet, I HIGHLY recommend Leap Frog's Letter Factory instead - without a doubt!

If I were designing an alphabet video for my child. . ., December 20, 2007

. . .it would look a lot like this one. My 2-year-old is absolutely obsessed with cars, trucks, and trains. To the extent that if it doesn't have wheels, it's not likely to hold his attention. (If he were in charge, he'd keep Pixar Cars running on 24/7 continuous loop.)
In a nutshell, this video involves a race wherein the cars are shaped like letters. My son was completely enthralled by it. The moment it ended, he asked to watch it again. That was fine with mom and dad, because it's certainly more educational than most of the other videos he loves.
While I think Leapfrog Letter Factory is still the best overall video for kids just learning the alphabet, this one's very good too. And the letter-shaped race cars make it really perfect for kids who love vehicles.

awesome learning video!, June 1, 2006

We got this dvd for our 4 year old. He loves this movie and constantly asks to watch it over and over. It doesn't just say the alphabet over and over but it uses a variety of words for each letter of the alphabet. It is a great way to show kids that more than just one word starts with a letter. As a parent, the music can get annoying because it is the same rhythm over and over but who are you buying for? yourself or your child? I highly recommend it.
