5.0 out of 5 stars Superb. Lots of Learning Going on., July 6, 2002

This review is from: Reader Rabbit: Thinking Adventures (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
This is one of the better Reader Rabbit computer games that we have bought for our son, and all of the ones we have bought are good. In other words, I view this one as the top of the top.

There are a lot of activities and each one is directed to some part of the learning process. There is matching, language, math, graphing and more. My son who is three really enjoys it. Some of the activities are too hard for him. He will be able to grow into those activities. In the meantime though, there are plenty of things he can do in this program. I think it will be a long time before he gets bored or outgrows this program.

There are three levels of play. I like that. It also arranged in such a way that it is easy to navigate the Reader Rabbit "world". My son can find his way very quickly to the activities he likes and back out to the main screen. He even knows how to exit it and turn it off. It is that simple to figure out.

Although it is supposed to be a story like game in that you are helping Reader Rabbit and his friends get ready for a surprise birthday, each game can stand alone and be played just for fun. This is a bonus for my son who doesn't quite have the idea that he's working towards a huge end product (the birthday party.)

Excellent.
Enjoy.

My kids are 3 & 4 years old and they love this program. Highly recommend this program for kids who like to play on the computer and like to learn without knowing they are learning :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational and fun!, September 17, 2002

It's tough finding something for kids to play while not spending a fortune and wasting brain space on senseless games. The Reader Rabbit series are great because they offer great ways to learn while keeping things simple and fun in a cartoon-like format. The software is easy to install and I found that my six year old could easily navigate the program without getting stuck. She sat on it for hours!! I was surprised to see the fun she had with the program and look forward to purchasing further copies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good for building logic skills, September 17, 2006

I tutor children for a living and I have found this software to be very good for building logic skills in children. It is stimulating to them and doesn't lose them by becoming difficult too quickly. This game is much better than it's math and reading counterparts. Although they are useful, they span too many levels at one time. I would say Thinking Adventures can be used as early as 3 years and still can remain challenging until 5 or 6 years of age. You can leave a child alone with this software for 2-10 minutes at a time (I would not recommend children playing on a computer for longer than this as they need physical stimulation), whereas most educational software for this age requires constant instruction from an adult.
