You will love this book. The book was recommended to me as I doubt I would have found it on my own. The title does not convey the wonderful way this explains the Christian faith and how we need to read the Bible with our emotions and logic. The book created in me a strong desire to increase my daily Bible reading time by putting the Bible in perspective.

What a valuable book. It's short, easy to read, simple, and profound. Read the first half of the book to get a great overview of what the Bible is all about. Read the second half as a handy reference for different genres and sections in the Bible. Are you reading through Isaiah? Pull out his chapter on the prophets to get some reading keys to take with you. Curious about the New Testament letters? Read his section on the epistles before, during, and/or after your Bible reading. In short, Longman's writing is accessible and practical-a trustworthy guide during anyone's reading of the Bible.

The title of this book says it all. Dr. Longman's personal style makes this book easy enough for the layman and advanced enough to be useful for the more scholarly minded. Read this book and find out how to read the Bible as God created you, a whole person!

Longman provides a terrific manual for educational and devotional Bible reading. He points out that the Bible is not just history but that God can be encountered as the Bible is read because it reveals His heart and mind. He then gives a survey of the different kinds of books in the Bible and what the main message is and how we can apply it to our lives. This is Longman's best book to date. A great guide through Scripture, including a sane look at the book of Revelation.

This book is highly recommended by Paul Tripp,I am taking one of his classes now.
