Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This book describes a way of luring fish that few other fly-fishing books address in depth. It articulates an approach to fly-tying and fly-fishing based on the behavior of flies in the water and as the fish see them. Numerous watercolors give an aerial view of a river's currents, best angling approaches and techniques, overcoming obstacles, and fish holding spots, with their accompanying text these watercolors provide the fly-angler with an incredible amount of valuable information. Other topics include: characteristics of moving water; fly design; materials; a river's layers; stratification; fish species; sensory perceptions of fish; fly selection; fishing techniques; and more. You will be surprised at how much useful information this little book provides.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very practical & detailed approach of reading the water, July 25, 2002
By LEE JI-YOUNG (SEOUL Korea (South)) - See all my reviews
The author defines and suggests new categories of the fly pattern by it's function, considering hydrodynamics.
He explains very practical and detailed presentation with his own flies including surface and subsurface and each stream situation.
His flies look like agly and odd but he makes his flyfishing nice and complete with those.
In addition, I feel this book focuses on steelhead and salmon on north America.
With very witty and nice hand-painted illustration.
Recommending for serious flyfisher.
