5.0 out of 5 stars A good start-off game

Now the dreamcast is here, and this game "Ready 2 Rumble Boxing" is the best game to start off with. This is the best to game to get you to understand the controller a little better, as well being a part of the great graphics of Dreamcast. IF you are already acquainted with the system, than anyone who likes boxing should LoVe this game. With its' hard knocking punnches and super fast movements. This game definately is a lot better than Knockout Kings 2000 for Nintendo 64 and I recommend this game highly.

R2R Boxing is a very fun two player game... maybe the best "party game" out so far for the Dreamcast. The boxers have great character, look beautiful, animate smoothly, and (most importantly) control perfectly. A five-star game, right? Wrong, because...

As a one-player game, the computer's pathetic AI ruins the fun. A loss to the computer is rare, and the march through the bronze, silver, and gold (equal to easy, medium, and hard) divisions quickly becomes mind-numbingly boring. For single-players, this is a two-star game.

If you know you'll often have human opposition, get this game immediately. If not, avoid... there are too many other superior one-player games out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Friendly Knockout, January 17, 2000

Ready 2 Rumble is a game that was never supposed to be taken seriously. No serious boxing fan should ever find comfort in this game... Beside its lack of realism, the game suffers from being all too easy to copmlete. Yes, there is a lot of variety, with many characters to play with and train; but after doing so several times at the toughest difficulty level, the game loses its appeal.

However, this game was not supposed to be played conventionaly. Only when played against a human opponent does the magic of the game show - and with ample amounts. Only then can you use all the special moves (especially those meant to tease your opponent) the way they were meant to be used...

After many fun filled evenings, I can personaly testify that Ready 2 Rumble is the best arcade multi player game I have ever seen (and played).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Fighting!, August 7, 2000

Ready 2 Rumble is what Mike Tyson's Punchout was 13 years ago. And it has been that long since the last truely fun boxing game. Pairing today's great graphics(at least on Dreamcast)with yesterdays fun equals a great game.

The game has two modes, an Arcade mode and a Championship mode. The Arcade mode is fun when played against another "human" opponent. The 2 player game will give the user more opportunities to taunt, set up for a combo, and go all out. Most people enjoy this type of fighting, infact everyone should. The Championship mode is for the die-hard player who likes to win, win, win. Going into championship mode requires a memory cartridge, and most importantly patience. The road to gold is a long, frustrating, and often dull experience. It is true when you work your way up to Gold status, strategies have to be used. The user finds out more about fighting the computer, really it's just like real boxing(jab, cut the ring off, win by decision). While few have the patience to test their skills against the computer, the die-hard player never really gets that much better especially against a "human" opponent who fights a whole lot different from the computer.

The game has various characters, with interesting backgrounds. We have a retired 21 year old cab driver going up against the Devil himself. Each fighter have different attributes, and using them to their right potential is key. Maybe the only bad thing about the game is the music(endless). But Ready 2 Rumble wins by TKO over any other boxing games.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Lets get ready to rumble!!", April 25, 2001

Now THIS is a cool game. The graphics are very impressive on the Dreamcast. The boxers rule! A cool example is Afro Thunder, who sounds like a combination of Chris Rock and James Brown. My absolute favorite boxer, and one of my favorie video game characters has got to be Damien Black. First, the guy is 7,3", and is {get this} 500 years old. He is huge, his skin is that zombie-grey type of color, and has quite alot of horns on his head {8 to be exact}. What I'm trying to say is: He's the devil, folks. Also, there is this old british guy from the 1800s. Hes actually quite amusing. There is also this Mike Tyson clone, an ancient Indian {one of the only ones who put up a fight against Damien}, and the Russian guy from Rocky 4. Anyway, this game is really cool, especially on the Dreamcast. My rating: Get it!

Ready to Rumble is a really great game. Very fast and addictive. This game be played with in many ways i.e. competitive with friends or even as a father son moment. It has several levels of exciting play from Bronze to Gold. If you are looking for a fun filled sports game with plenty of laughs then this is for you, and if you have to make a comparrison between this and Knockout kings 2000 then it's RR all the way KOK 2000 will only frustrate you.

R2R is overall a good game the first couple of days was fun and the champion ship mode is good. But after round 15 in the silver class your charactor can not be nocked down. you can sit there and take 20 hits and loss barley any live. Maybe its a problem with the game, or the company did not intend this but after you reach that point it just gets boring. now if I play that game it is either with a friend or just lifting the weights :). The grafics are good (better then the 64) and the game play is above average. I suggest these games for multiplayer only.

The graphics will surely win over your sega-bashing friends but the gameplay needs work. You are not rewarded for getting 6 letters b/c as soon as you power up, your opponent can run away backwards. As for the the single player championship mode, it's not that good because special moves were taken out so you are limited to some really boring fights. Major dissapointment :(
