IT'S EVERBODY ELSE'S WORK,
By Harold Lamarr (Benton Harbor, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ready Aim Hired: Survival Tactics for Job & Career Transition (Paperback)
I read this book with great interest. As long-time professional in the career services business, this book is simply a compilation of methods used by other career service firms. I don't see anything here that is original. Shame on the author.

This economy stinks, but this book helped me get interviews for jobs where there were over 1000 applicants. Great advice on marketing yourself, getting seen, and landing the job.

This review is from: Ready Aim Hired: Survival Tactics for Job & Career Transition (Paperback)
I seem to collect books on getting hired, negotiating, interview questions, etc. Ready, Aim, Hired puts it all together in one place. It seems one reviewer knocked this wonderful resource for just that reason. Well, he is welcome to a whole library of individual books to gather his information. I like mine ready, available and useful all in one place. I keep this jewel out on my desk as a valuable resource.

This book will help arm you for a successful career search or transition.,
By Bernie L. Malonson "B. Malonson" (Chandler, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ready Aim Hired: Survival Tactics for Job & Career Transition (Paperback)
Ready-Aim-Hired is not your typical "feel good" career guide.
The author is often quoted in the Wall Street Journal, and has a no-nonsense, take no prisoners approach to the job search. He is a big proponent of the fact that when it comes to getting hired, it is a "Winner Take All" proposition, there is no second place. The book provides a comprehensive plan and guide to finding your next position. There are many excercises If you are looking for a strategic approach to the job search this is an excellent place to start. The section on how to take charge of the interview, is alone worth the price of the book. The author introduces you to a simple strategy you are not likely to find anywhere else. There is a second edition in print. You can do a Google search on the author and contact him directly to find out how to get an updated edition. Highly recommended!

Fred has written what can be called The Ultimate Guide To Career Prep. His style is highly readable and his insights are immediately valuable for anyone recovering from the pain of a forced career hiatus. I can recommend his book for the career seeker who wants to strengthen his/her candidacy and shorten the process of job search.

This book is the most comprehensive and informative book on job search that I have ever read. It's filled with practical, useful exercises and advise. In addition, it provides structure for the job-seeker who is having difficulty determining the course they need to take. If you are looking for a position at any level, you MUST include this book in your job search efforts.

Complete Job Search Book,
By Anita Laubenthal (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ready Aim Hired: Survival Tactics for Job & Career Transition (Paperback)
This is a great career book. Not only did it help me with my resume, but with every aspect of my job search. It helped me find interviews by using various methods (networking, recruiters, search engines). Once in the interview, it helped me to effectively control the interview and highlight my skills. The exercises were great and actually made me realize all of the skills that I had. I learned how to properly negotiate my salary and am now making 20% more. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a job.

Fred has covered it all in this comprehensive guide. It is crucial for the entry level professional, right up to the well seasoned executive searching for the ideal career opportunity. I have this book and have recommended to my colleagues and clients. The guide itself is excellent, but the interactive features extend the flexibility of the document 10 fold! For anybody who works, this book is a must!
