Singer/Songwriter/Musician extraordinaire..., April 22, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Ready (Audio CD)
Allison Tartalia is singer/songwriter/musician extraordinaire... I obtained this cd of hers a while back... All the friends I've played it for loved it and thought, like I, to be original... "Back of My Neck" is my favorite track, though the whole cd is chock full of really good songs... I've seen her live - and I'd recommend you do to when she hits your city/town -Plus I'm eagerly awaiting her next full length album with anitcipation!!! - Savannah Skye...

Cornucopia of Rhythm & Style, March 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Ready (Audio CD)
Being from a time in music when everything new is anything but, Allison Tartalia's "Ready" redefines the independent folk genre- proving that indie does not mean amateur and style needs not be stagnant. Her debut is a concoction chock full of exotic and delicious ingredients (ranging from folk to jazz to funk to even a bit of a mediterranean flavor) that puts the bland formula-ed mortifs they call popular music to shame. A skillful musician with an intoxicating voice, her lyrics are sure to seep through even the most impassive listeners.

Great album!, February 24, 2003

I highly recommend this album to anyone who likes rich, meaningful, jazzy/folky music. Dorothy's Reply, in particular, is just brilliant -- the lyrics are clever and witty, and the instrumentation is full and interesting in its own right. I play it on repeat for ages. Lots of other nice surprises too, like the cool layered harmonies in Spinning Song (another of my favorites)....

Smooth Grooves & Ferocious Talent, February 18, 2003

I've followed Allison Tartalia for years and was so thrilled when she finally came out with an album I could play at home! The recording does not disappoint - lots of beautiful piano and guitar work here, backing the gorgeous, intricate lyrics Allison is known for. This is the kind of album you will play for 3 days straight & then return to for more. Highly recommended.
