This is not a review on the album which is absolute masterpiece.

I strongly recommend against downloading from Amazon.

If you get curious and want to hear the remastered 'amended' version of these songs -- be advised that the MP3's available for download from Amazon have been edited and censored. Also, if you choose the Amazon downloader, the file that downloads won't be an mp3 but an item with a .amz extension

I also listened to the version I downloaded from Amazon and compared it to my copy of the remastered version of 'Ready To Die' using Sound Forge and IT IS NOT the version from the remastered album but a censored version from the original album, unmastered.

This is an absolute shameful representation of the music and the label should pull or adjust this immediately.

I have written quite a few Amazon reviews in the past 10 years, and this is the first time I ever had to write a warning.

For shame, Amazon.

Hopefully, everyone understands that this is more of a review with Amazon and their downloading service and not a review of Biggie. I'm just trying to save you your money on this. I complained and got my money back.

I saw the review posted here about the albums being edited. A comment gave a new link for an unedited version but that one was edited as well. Guess I'm out some money.

Don't download, buy the real CD. Amazon is lying to you.

Can anyone forget this album? This album (as well as Nas' "Illmatic" were the front runners of the year 1994. Christopher "Notorious B.I.G. (Biggie Smalls)" Wallace debuted with this album with the lead single "Juicy". A rags to riches song that still gets played here in 2006. Biggie's lyrical skills were excellent. I hear a lot of rappers (who I will be here all day naming) saying excellent lines that came from Biggie. I think to myself "Damn, this guy said everything".

The album is excellent too. A lot of these songs are about drugs, robbing, and what not. Big was just rhyming about things that he went through before he had a record deal, trying to survive and eat. Who could blame him? "Give Me The Loot" is one of those songs about his struggles (some words were edited in this song. I'm pretty sure rhyming about robbing a pregnant woman was going to gain some negative attention). "Machine Gun Funk" is self explanitory on how a good song it was. "Warning" was a short song and video about people targeting him for his money. "One More Chance" is a great song about how he gets his females. The song would be remixed and made into a video a year later, but both versions sound great.

Guest appearances are only one. Method Man, back when his rhyme skills were phenomonal, would rhyme on "The What". Classic track if you ask me.

Production was by Mr. Cee, Puff Daddy, and Easy Mo Bee. True, Puffy might be the "king of beat jacking" and what not, but he did a damn good job with them. The Isley Brothers "Between The Sheets" would be made into the classic single "Big Poppa" was one of them.

This album was pulled off the shelves earlier of this year, because of unauthorized sampling on this album. But recently I've seeing it back on shelves. I guess it got settled. I bought this back in 2003 when it had the origonal white album cover. If you purchased this in 2004, you get the album with a few extra tracks like the more popular "One More Chance (Remix)". And you get the DVD with all the videos that came from this album. This album had a heavy impact in 1994, is a classic and is a must have for any hip hop collection. Most of these songs are rehashed into choppy verses on his postmothous albums unfortunately. But this is where most of them origonally came from. Biggies legacy helped influenced a laundry list your favorite rappers today, who bite his style. That alone should explain how this impacted hip hop. Word.

Correction: The remix to "One More Chance" doesn't appear on here, although it would have been a smart idea, since it was a big hit song summer '95. Also I heard that the actual album is edited, which I hope is not true (I know the samples here on Amazon are).

Obviously this is a classic, so I don't need to tell you it's dope. As far as the remasters and new packaging, however: The volume increase is cool and everything, as far as making this sound better in my MP3 player, but the remixes and bonus content do nothing for this release except dilute it like Puff did with everything BIG left behind. Get this used though, and it's all forgivable.

I bought this as a gift and it was exactly what I wanted. good quality and it came a described as well.

big put everything he had and more into this album the lyrics,the flow,and the beats are slamming. this is a classic rap album so if your a hardcore rap fan get your copy of ready to die

One of my favorite albums of all time. The entire album is hot! There was no one weak song at all and the fact that the entire album is remastered made it even better!! Classic B.I.G!!!! A must have for all!!

When I first heard this album I wasn't even in to rap music. I hated it. I only wanted to hear alternative rock. One night I was over at my friend's house and I saw the video for "Big Poppa" and I loved it. I thought that Biggie's flow was insanely smooth and that his lifestyle was like a Scarface movie or something, seeing Puffy in the hottub only made it more crazy. This remastered anniversary set is great. It features the original album plus Who Shot Ya and Dreams (ode to R&B singers Biggie wants to sex). The bonus DVD is a nice addition too with all of the music videos for this album. If you don't own a copy of this album yet buy this version it's the best!

this was another album that i bought when it first came out and gave it to my brother, didn't like anything about it. when it was re-released i picked it up and haven't put it down since then. no skipping tracks on this one either.
