Hey folks, do you remember Rock N Roll? Despite the fact that record companies and that video channel have turned their backs on this music genre, a few artists have kept the flame alive over the years -- one of whom is Eddie Money. His brand of straight-ahead RNR, while banished from the spotlight in favor of the trendy Prosac Pop and the Pimple Brigade, has kept true to its core. On this new set, The Money Man, now 50, shows the establishment that he's not slowing with age by successfully and energetically demonstrating for them just what it means to rock -- just as he did on his 1977 debut which flew in the face of disco. I have bought the tape (for my car) and the CD, and it was money well spent. Truthfully, I have already worn out the tape from continuous play. If forced to pick a favorite among so many good songs, I'd have to say "When You Gonna Satisfy Me" -- I just can't play it loud enough.
READY EDDIE: Buy it, play it, remember how to rock n roll. If the new millennium brings us anything, I hope it brings a rock renaissance; if this is to be, then this album will be heralded as a forerunner in the new age. (see also Sammy Hagar's latest)

Eddie really rocked hard on this disc.. Radio and the record company ignored this great release and it is a shame ! This was by far the "best" work Eddie had done in years. Eddie always mixed some filler songs on his records but his huge hits over powered the albums anyway. Ready To Rock is a great powerful track full of hooks and great guitar work by Survivor guitarist Frankie Sullivan and the shakin drumming of Kenny Aronoff! When listening to this cd there is no doubt you will remember the guitar work and the drums.. Don't Say No Tonight should have been a huge hit single when this cd came out. Pure rock with hooks and great vocals etc etc.. This track really is a incredible story and a theme.. ( one of his best written tracks of all time )! It's Gotta Be Love also is one of the best tracks on this disc ! Can't Go On is a true Eddie Money classic ballad that turns into a rockin love story ! Broken Down Chevy is a older Eddie tune that he had performed live for many years, it is a straight ahead story rocker that has great music and eddie's harmonica skills all over it.. ! i give this disc a 5 based on 5 songs that equal any material Eddie has ever written throughout his career.. The other songs are good but the ones i mentioned really are above what Eddie had done in recent recordings. Ready Eddie and Right Here are Eddie's best cds and they are both from the 1990's.

Eddie Money has had a career spanning over 30 years with some of the most memorable hooks in radio. Money has always had the ability to write rock with an R&B sensibility and usually his songs have one gigantic riff that sticks in your cranium. Great examples would be "Take Me Home Tonight" and "Walk On Water", both have monster hooks and choruses. On READY EDDIE, the Money Man finds his 80's groove again with a collection as deep and radio ready as anything in his extensive catalogue. The crime is that radio has forgotten old artists. And while I'm a decade overdue on this review, I have to say that this album had aged like any other regular Eddie radio staple. I dare any objective fan of Money to listen to this album and not get goosebumps. "Don't Say No Tonight" could be the greatest song Eddie has ever recorded. This song combines all the 80's pop with all the AOR power and guitar layering that made the Money man a perennial favorite. But you'll find great tunes all over this collection. "Ready To Rock", "So Cold Tonight" and "It's Got To Be Love" all offer that patented Eddie Money hook and accompanied by great guitars and smooth background vocals. The radio industry blew it and missed an opportunity to give us more Money. This is an industry that sees rock and roll as cheesy and all the music that used to chart is hardly ever heard anymore. Eddie should reintroduce this collection as a "new" album. This is good enough to be on classic rock stations, adult contemporary radio and any other outlet willing to give real rock a chance.

If you loved Eddie Money in the 70s and 80s, you'll love this one. What else is there to say except it is just pure Eddie Money - great rock n roll.

Oh man! This album just kicks! I saw Eddie in concert several years ago and this album sounds like a studio version of a live concert. It just grabs you with an in-your-face rock opener and just doesn't let go! Eddie slows the pace down a bit with some cool power ballads, then fires up the band again for a hard rockin' finale! I could've sworn I was back at the concert again! Thanks, Eddie, for keeping rock alive. I thought it was gone for good.

Before I start this review, I have to ask this question: why doesn't this album appear as part of Eddie Money's discography when you do an Amazon search for this artist?
Lately, many bands that were successful in the 80s have been releasing new material, from Journey and Styx to Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. Eddie Money released this album 5 years ago, before these other artists came back to their senses to make good music. It was also an unpopular move considering the musical tastes that were prevalent in 1999. However, this album is like a beautiful rose among the repulsive fields of thorns that are still blossoming in the music industry!
The album is a modern throwback to Eddie's style; hard rock with just a little grit, combined with pop sensitivity. The sound is definitely classic, and the songs are very well written...almost as if Eddie never stopped writing music. The album immediately kicks off with "Ready To Rock". The song is a basic rock masterpiece, good for cruising in your car during a hot summer day. The next song is "Don't Say No Tonight". Here, you can definitely hear residual song writing from Eddie's 1985 hit "Take Me Home Tonight/Be My Baby". The songs are NOT the same, but they have similar patterns. Still, it is a classic song worthy of increasing the volume and jamming to. Other good songs consist of "Let It Go", "Need A Little Rock", "So Cold Tonight", and "Broken Down Chevy".
Besides the first two songs, there are two other fantastic rockers that are my favorites: "It's Gotta Be Love" and "When You Gonna Satisfy Me". The former song starts out with an excellent guitar riff, then blasts out in a classic rock style to make you want to dance.
