"Ready Freddie: Getting Ready for Fires" is one book that can save a life.
What a great read. This book teaches basic fire safety in an easy to read, entertaining and fun format. It not only demonstrates how to prevent fires from happening, but what to do should one occur. No one wants to be put in a situation that involves life or death decisions but we all know that there is no substitution for preparation. This book is a must have for your child's library.

This book is very helpful for the entire family. It is well written, captures your attention and has very colorful and vivid illustrations. The tips throughout the book, such as changing your detector batteries with the change in time, are interwoven creatively into the story but are also practical and very helpful for everyone to use.

As a seasoned emergency management professional, I found Ready Freddie to be an excellent educational tool for parents when having to teach them about safety and emergencies at an early age. The author, Earl Hicks, Jr., has taken a smart approach to an age old pursuit by ensuring that the content is up-to-date, nicely illustrated, and smartly written to reflect modern precautions and methods (in this case, fire safety). The book is exactly the kind of material local, state, and federal agencies; such as, DHS/FEMA, the American Fire Safety Association (AFSA), and others should be providing to citizens to improve safety and national preparedness among families. A perfect gift idea that both parent and child can enjoy together.

I believe kids will connect with this book, and parents will find it to be a supurb vehicle for teaching and training thier children safety and preparedness. To often, children end up taking the test first and leaning the lessons later - after it's to late! I really look forward to future edititions tht will cover other important topics.
