Amazon.com Review

Setting: Boston, present day

Sensuality Rating: 3

Bestselling author Debbie Macomber presents repackaged Harlequin romances Ready for Romance and Ready for Marriage under a new title, Ready for Love. Faithful fans and readers just now discovering Macomber will appreciate having both of those sexy Dryden brothers between the covers--of a single volume, that is. Senior partners of one of Boston's most prestigious law firms, high-powered attorneys Damian and Evan Dryden are sought-after bachelors. But for all their success, neither Damian nor Evan has ever been lucky in love. Damian's story, Ready for Romance, brings once-gangly girl-next-door Jessica Kellerman back into Damian's life. The pubescent girl had a huge crush on his younger brother, Evan, at the time Damian caught an embarrassed Jessica pressing ruby-red lip prints on all the mirrors in Evan's car. When newly-graduated Jessica applies for a job at Damian and Evan's law firm, Damian finds little evidence of the scrawny, awkward teenager he knew so long ago in the confident woman seated before him. Jessica may be the answer to Damian's prayers for Evan to recuperate from a love affair gone bad. But what about Damian's increasingly steamy dreams featuring the alluring Jessica? Attorney Damian presses his case--and everything else--to convince Jessica that he is the man for her in this delightful tale.

In Ready for Marriage, Evan Dryden meets then loses the girl of his dreams. Now, three years later, ex-fiancée Mary Jo Summerhill is in his office asking for Evan's help. Evan coerces Mary Jo into working for him while his secretary takes an extended vacation in exchange for his handling of her parents' legal problems. Mary Jo loved Evan enough to leave him once before, but is she strong enough to do it again? Even knowing Evan and his powerful family are way out of her league, Mary Jo's conviction to do what's best for Evan is sorely tested during their daily interaction. Evan is equally determined not to lose Mary Jo a second time. Will this couple ever be Ready for Marriage? Read it and find out! --Alison Trinkle

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!!!, November 14, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Ready For Love (Paperback)
I am definitely not the type of person who reads romance novels, but I was in a store and decided to try this book out. I'm so glad I did! This was an enjoyable book that was difficult to put down. Reading this made me feel the same emotions as the characters. I still have not become the avid romance novel reader, but I will read other books by this author- Debbie Macomber.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a romance...., February 22, 2001

This book is almost the best romance I have ever read. This book is natural in the way it mimics an actual reality romance. This book is so compelling. I could not put it down for a second. Every chapter leaves you urging to read the next. I was almost late for a few of my classes being so enthralled in this romance novel.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good book, June 8, 2001

This review is from: Ready For Love (Paperback)
The story line is just so-so. And I feel that the story is being rushed through as the relationship between Jessica and Damien cannot be developed so fast. Tell me whether can you fall in love with a guy after a few months and get married straight away? NO! Be realistic.. In the second story, the author is not doing a good job, how can a woman be so straightforward by asking whether a guy like her or not and KEPT ON insisting the guy like her. NO woman will do that! But I give it 2 because the techniques used in writting are interesting and romantic. BUT THE EDITOR HAVE TO IMPROVE HIS GRAMMER!! I can easily spot spelling mistakes. I don't really recommand you to buy it, but rent it instead. I don't think I eer want to read another book written by her, maybe because I have read several other better authors.
