Book Description

With bills piling up and a brassy new partner at her scrapbooking shop, the last thing Kiki Lowenstein needs is a surprise visit from her browbeating mother. But when shots fired into the crowd narrowly miss Kiki at her daughter’s May Day pageant, it’s another mother—St. Louis’s wealthiest matriarch—who winds up dead.

While creating a memorial album for the murdered beer heiress, Kiki becomes bait in a dangerous trap as threats from her old foe mount against her. With help from friends in high and low places, including hunky beau Chad Detweiler, Kiki finds herself facing a grave ultimatum: catch the killer or be cropped out of her own family album.

Praise:

"Slan’s scrapbook mysteries are most valuable for the well-developed characters and the issues they raise."—Kirkus Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! March 27, 2012
Format:Paperback
I was the lucky winner on Joanna Campbell Slan's Facebook page of her book that is due out April 8, 2012.
I have read all of the previous Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mysteries and had been impatiently waiting to read this new one.

Joanna's new book did not disappoint. I couldn't wait to turn the page and find out what happens. The characters are colorful and come to life on the pages. Joanna makes it easy to become immersed in the lives of the characters and relate to what is happening in their lives. Joanna includes scrapbook tips and recipes.

I won't give any details to the book, as I don't want to ruin it for you. But I highly recommend this book. And if you haven't read the previous ones, you should start there; it will give you a good insight to who the characters are.

Here is a list of Joanna's other Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mysteries; so you don't miss any!
Paper, Scissors, Death
Cut, Crop & Die
Photo, Snap, Shot
Make, Take, Murder

All I can say is, "Hurry up Joanna, I can't wait to read the next one!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Ready, Scrap, Shoot is great! April 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have enjoyed following Kiki's books. I suggest you start with the first book in this series because the books build on each other. And do not forget to read the inbetween stories especially the one on Purple Passion before you read this one. They help understand the characters even though new ones are introduced in this book. I enjoy the suspense-filled plots, plus I get new scrapbook ideas! Hope you enjoy the series as much as I have and this book is the best one yet! I can hardly wait to see what happens next to Kiki and her friends!

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL May 15, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is another great Kiki Lowenstein mystery. From the first chapter to the last you will not want to put it down.

There are a few different issues in this book but they are all brought together by the end of the book.

It starts with a shooting at a May Day ceremony at Anya's school. The book also introduces Kiki's mom to the readers. Elderly care is also addressed. And of course there is more about Kiki and her hunky boyfreind Detective Chad Detweiler.

I won't give up the ending because that would just spoil it for you if you haven't read it yet.

If your a fan of the other Kiki Lowenstein mystery book you will love this one.

More About the Author

Joanna Campbell Slan started storytelling - and winning awards for her writing - at an early age. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Joanna grew up in Vincennes, Indiana, and graduated cum laude from Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana) where she majored in journalism. Today she's the author of eleven non-fiction books, a mystery series featuring Kiki Lowenstein, a spunky single mom who loves to scrapbook, and a new series featuring Charlotte Brontë's classic heroine Jane Eyre as an amateur sleuth. Joanna's first novel--Paper, Scissors, Death--was a 2009 Agatha Award finalist. The Kiki Lowenstein series has been praised by the Library Journal as "topically relevant and chock-full of side stories." Publisher's Weekly calls them, "a cut above the usual craft-themed cozy."
RT Book Review has said that Kiki Lowenstein is that she is "our best friend, our next-door neighbor and ourselves with just a touch of the outrageous." Once you've met Joanna, you can guess where the outrageous comes from. Ready, Scrap, Shoot, the fifth book in the Kiki Lowenstein series, has just been released along with short stories featuring Kiki. A sixth book in that popular series has been scheduled. In addition, Joanna is writing a new historical mystery series featuring Jane Eyre as an amateur sleuth. Death of a Schoolgirl (August 2012/ Berkley) marks the first entry in The Jane Eyre Chronicles. In her ongoing quest to never see snow again, Joanna lives with her two dogs and her husband on a nearly deserted island--Jupiter Island, Florida.
