5.0 out of 5 stars Deserves to be a Hit!
"I'm not Ready to Make Nice" is the first single from the new Dixie Chicks album "Taking the Long Way". Like the rest of the album the song was produced by Rick Rubin ( Red Hot Chilli-Peppers ) and his influence is quite audible. The traditional country direction that the previous album "Home" suggested has been abandoned in favour of a more mainstream pop-rock approach...

3.0 out of 5 stars didn't get what I thought I'd ordered
thought I'd ordered their new CD & only got 2 songs w/ a video. The songs are great but now I've got a CD in the car w/ only 2 songs that play over & over. Wish the description had better explained what I was buying. Hold Amazon @ fault, not the Dixie Chicks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deserves to be a Hit!, June 13, 2006
This review is from: Not Ready to Make Nice (Audio CD)
"I'm not Ready to Make Nice" is the first single from the new Dixie Chicks album "Taking the Long Way". Like the rest of the album the song was produced by Rick Rubin ( Red Hot Chilli-Peppers ) and his influence is quite audible. The traditional country direction that the previous album "Home" suggested has been abandoned in favour of a more mainstream pop-rock approach. The song is a Dixie Chicks original ( like all songs on the new album ) and it's very strong - both musically and lyrically ( dealing with Natalie Maines' controversal political comments ). Great production that suits the song perfectly. Deserves to be a hit!

The B-side "Everybody Knows" is a more country-influenced track and more like earlier Dixie Chicks recordings - also a fine song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gutsy Ladies, March 25, 2007
This review is from: Not Ready to Make Nice (Audio CD)
These ladies were given a very hard time, not because of a lack of talent, but because some people didn't want them to exercise their right to free speech. They came through it with class. This is a great album, moving just a little away from their country roots. The single and title track "Not Ready to Make Nice" is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time.

This song says it all..musically and lyrically..one of their best yet.
They deserve to sing this song loud and proud, and they do!
Brava..I hope they continue to make great music, AND stand up for what they believe. They are strong amazing women, and our country is lucky to have women like this!

Made the same mistake as above that CD is not the actual album. I guess I was in too much of a hurry when I ordered.

5.0 out of 5 stars DIXIE CHICKS, March 3, 2007
This review is from: Not Ready to Make Nice (Audio CD)
I guess the individuals who said the career of the Chicks would never surivive are eating their words. Theis album is back on the top of the COUNTRY album charts for the second week in a row, number 8 on the billboard 200 (where it was #1 for a week but debuting at #1 months ago, and the single 'Not Ready To Make Nice' shot from #74 to #4 last week! Long live the Chicks!

I found myself listening to this quite few times when I first purchased it. I must say that I am totally amused with the lyrics and how biting they are. Great songs, great lyrics.

And to the person who wrote "At least I graduated Magna Cum Laude from college before going to Grad School. I have a little bit of an academic background to formulate an opinion. What do they have, vocal training?"

I don't believe that anyone needs to be Magna Cum Laude to form an opinion, just well informed. And I do believe we still have Freedom of Speech to say what we want when we want. And besides all that, what does this have to do with the music?
