The first grade readers I share these books with adore them! They were so excited to see a new adventure. Living in rainy Seattle, my readers can identify with Piggie's frustration about not being able to enjoy playing outside on a rainy day. As always with the Elephant and Piggie series, the expressions on the faces of the characters, the clear body language, and the simple-- but wonderfully funny-- dialogue help early readers experience all the drama and humor as they read the story.

Mo Willems is one of the best writers in children's literature today. The Elephant and Piggie books are great for little ones learning to read. Mr. Willems has a unique gift for making books with few words and simple illustrations laugh-out-loud funny.

My 4 year old daughter loves all of the books and has most of the Elephant and Piggie books memorized. She loves to read them aloud. She also loves to look for the sly appearances of characters from the other books that Mr. Willems includes in every book he writes.

Bottom line: Great books for kids and fun for Mom and Dad, too.

This series is up at the top of the all time best learning-to-read books.
Both of my kids love these books and were very proud to be able to read all 57 pages without getting worn out.

Parents and teachers of emergent readers, it doesn't get better than Elephant and Piggie books! This new release just joined the others in the series as my kindergartners' favorite books to read and reread. They love the tender friendship of Gerald and Piggie and love to read Gerald's gray text words and Piggie's pink words in deep elephant and squeaky pig voices. Brief, easily memorized text and lots of high frequency words make these books highly successful for early readers. Can't wait for the two new releases in March and June!

I love this author- and so do my kids(4 and 6). The books are very well printed, and bound I think they will last a while in our house.

These books are terrific for beginning readers! They are witty and fun and easy to read. My four year old loves the characters and can read the books all by herself...

This is yet one more fun story from Mo Willems. My grandsons roll on the floor giggling when we read these stories. And now, my oldest grandson has learned how to read and is reading these books to me [complete with emphasis on the humourous phrases!] Thank you.

My son's grandma bought him this book and two other Elephant and Piggie books. I absolutly love these books they are just so cute and sweet. I like them so much I have just ordered all the other books in the series. I just love how the two totally opposite animals are such good friends. Their friendship is inspiring......Oh yeah my son loves them too!

A delightful story and excellent teaching resource that supports the development of writing skills for young children. Simple pictures allow you to teach children to represent movement in their drawings and both character's feelings change throughout the story. Simple pictures depict only Elephant and Piggie, thus allowing the teacher to focus on setting as well.

I actually do not enjoy these books all that much but my son finds them laugh out loud hilarious! And they are for him so... They are cute, usually have good lessons to glean, have simple but clear illustrations of various emotions, social interactions, friendship issues and facial expressions. This one emphasises finding various fun things to do in any weather, making the best out of situations, helping fiends, cheering others up and thinking of others rather than one's self. My son is 3 and can read them repeatedly, day after day after day after day....
