Nostalgic and Heartwarming,
By
This review is from: Ready to Wed (Tales from Grace Chapel Inn, Book 4) (Paperback)
Prolific author Melody Carlson proves that authors can keep delivering captivating stories, even as they near their 100th book. In Ready to Wed, she has created a town that is a character in itself. It seems to come alive and welcome you in. All the characters are memorable, from the Howard sisters to their strong-willed Auntie to their pastor, Kenneth, who has perfected Popping In 101--a prerequisite class in Seminary.
Belle Bannister drives in town in a pink convertible to find the husband God showed her in a dream. Her stay at the Inn gets the sisters reluctantly involved in Belle's quest when their Auntie Ethel becomes infatuated with the idea of a wedding. The manhunt is on and while the sisters like sweet Belle, they pity the town's bachelors. From the moment Auntie berates Jane on page one for wearing old gardening clothes and Crocs in public--even if that public is her own garden--you'll be enchanted by Acorn Hill and its inhabitants. Caring, warm and a bit whacky all define the characters that flow from Carlson's pen. If you were raised in a small town, you'll be nostalgic recognizing old neighbors. If you're a city dweller, you may find yourself longing for life in Acorn Hill. Whichever you are, you'll not come away untouched by this warm story of friendship and faith. I'm looking forward to the next books in this series. Ready to Wed receives a high recommendation.

This is one of the more interesting books in this series, although based on a strange idea it held my attention more than some of the other Tales from Grace Chapel Inn. All the way through I was hoping that the intended groom wouldn't be one of the 'regulars' in the town's cast of characters. It was a good read for me.

I bought the first book Going Home after my father passed away. The characters in the books are likable and true. I've cried and laughed my way through seven books and am looking forward to reading more.

Belle is in love. She just hasn't found WHO she loves! You will laugh as the men of Acorn Hill try to "dodge her bullet". What a wonderful story of love, life and laughter!

I hate to say this but this book was totally boring. I read up to the part where Louise is disapointed that Jane has not told her about Jason coming. Then I read the last few chapters and called it a night. I have all the books in the series. As of book 47 it's all over folks. Carson is usually an excellent writer. I didn't think of it until this book but I would like to see Jane and Craig get together. So what if he is a younger man. We out live the men anyway.

It is an enjoyable yet a bit of a fantasy type of story with things ending up "perfect" in the end. The way the author creates the sotry and the humour is what will keep me coming back to read her next novel.

Delightful,
This review is from: Ready to Wed (Tales from Grace Chapel Inn, Book 4) (Paperback)
The characters in Ready To Wed are a delight. There's Belle Bannister, who arrives in town, convinced God has sent her there. In fact, he has promised her that if she moves her business as a cosmetic consultant there she would find the man of her dreams. God has even set the date for her wedding.
Jane Howard and her aunts, Alice and Louise, are skeptical, but who wants to argue with God? Belle believes so strongly she even books the church and orders the cake. Then she sets out to find the groom, a prospect that sends the town bachelors into a collective panic party. An entertaining story, and Belle, the Southern Belle, who loves all things pink, is as sweet and enticing as a Georgia Peach.

Very Disappointed,
This review is from: Ready to Wed (Tales from Grace Chapel Inn, Book 4) (Paperback)
I have read all the books in this series and I must say I am very disappointed in this one. The plot moved so SLOW that I found myself skipping pages at a time just trying to find something more interesting than what they were wearing or the food Jane was preparing, etc. I also thought the main plot of Belle was just too silly. Melody Carlson can do better than this. I can't believe she even wrote it. The other books in the series were very good. If there are going to be any more, I'm not going to buy them.
