This review is from: 190 Ready-to-Use Activities That Make Math Fun! (Paperback)
I was expecting a book of activities to liven up math. Instead, it is just a book of worksheets. Mostly problems where the learner uses the answer in a crossword, wordsearch, or some other type of puzzle. I'm looking for activities to work with students in groups of 3-5. Projects or activities to give us a break from lecture and homework. This is definitely not it. I was led to believe this book was for 6-12, but I would rate it for 6-8.

Pilot Teacher,

This review is from: 190 Ready-to-Use Activities That Make Math Fun! (Paperback)
I am a pilot teacher. I used this resource book with middle years students in many ways. Individual students did some sections and tests as enrichment. They liked the interesting topics such as, how much does it cost to own a tiger. Another way that I used this book was with the whole class. The book contains basic math topics. We covered some sections as extra review for difficult chapters, like fractions. The exercises are self-explanatory. This is beneficial especially in a split-grade when time is divided between two grades. Also substitute teachers found the exercises easy to use. I appreciated the opportunity to pilot this book. The students' learning was enhanced. I recommend it highly. Thank-you. Corinne Baldwin St. Vital School Battleford, Sask. |
