This is a blockbuster of a book, which will anger liberals.,
By
This review is from: The Real American Dilemma: Race, Immigration, and the Future of America (Paperback)
If you tend to be what is charitably called "politically correct," these days, or are squeamish about facing facts, and prefer to accept the liberal doctrine espoused by academia and the liberal press and the Clinton administration, you will probably avoid this book.Jared Taylor is probably best known as the author of the bombshell book, "Paved With Good Intentions," 1992, which I have also reviewed. His thoughtful exposition of the facts in that book was violently attacked in the press by the liberal apologists who refuse to look at the facts without their rose-colored glasses on, and they will no doubt attack this volume with equal virulence. But, whether they face it or not, race is a problem in the United States. Although diversity is hailed as a great boon to society by the liberal bed-wetters, why is it that race remains such a divisive force, and such a great problem, ranking even above AIDS, crime, welfare abuse, and teen pregnancy? And why is it that blacks are at the top of the list in all of the above problem areas? It is well established that blacks and Hispanics have higher rates of crime, illegitimacy, poverty, and even death rates from many diseases than whites. Why is that taken as decisive proof that America is racist? Why are Asian ghettos seen by their inhabitants and others as places of refuge from crime and violence, while black ghettos are seen as breeding places for epidemics of those same societal blights? Why is it that, worldwide, in study after study, East Asians are tested as having higher IQs than whites, while African blacks on average test 30 points lower? (Those of mixed race, which account for most in the United States, test, as might be expected, only 15 points lower.) If the societal benefits of diversity so enhance our culture, why do white Americans universally flee from all its great benefits, and leave all the cultural enrichment available in East St. Louis, South Central Los Angeles, Detroit, Monterey Park, Washington, D.C., and all the other environments where the greatest diversity abounds? It is often proposed that our "racist" society teaches blacks, in particular, to "hate themselves." In actual fact, the continual hammering by the liberal press is teaching blacks to hate whites. a natural reaction to the constant barrage from television news and the press that their problems are caused by racist white people, and the not-so-subtle suggestion that our police, courts and prisons are all racist, imprisoning them unjustly for murder, rape, assault and other crimes. This book looks at the facts, the physiological, mental, emotional, sexual and cultural differences. It is not about "white supremacy." In fact, if anything, it demonstrates Asian superiority, with the white race somewhere in the middle. If you wonder what will happen if the present immigration and affirmative action trends continue; if you think that the great moral battle for racial equality in all things is justified, and the "civil rights" battles of the 'sixties were a great boon to the United States, perhaps this is a book you should read. On the other hand, if you are terrified of being labeled a "racist," or a "white supremacist," I wouldn't leave it laying around where your liberal friends will see it. In fact, it is a thoughtful book, written by scientists, who have refused to be cowed by the attacks on them, which are a story in themself.

An Eye-Opening Book,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Real American Dilemma: Race, Immigration, and the Future of America (Paperback)
"The Real American Dilemma" is a jolting account of America's greatest problem. The writers gathered here do not worship at the shrine of multiculturalism or diversity.Jared Taylor, Samuel Francis, Michael Levin and Philippe Rushton have all paid a great price for their honesty in discussing the biological, cultural and political consequences of a multiracial, multicultural America. This book should be read by everyone who cares about the future of their country. Whites are going to have to start asking themselves hard questions such as: Do I want to live in a Third-World nation full of Third-World people? Must I continue to pay high taxes to subsidize those who cannot or will not assimilate into Western culture? What will life be like when people like Lani Guinier are on the Supreme Court or proficiency in Spanish is required for a government job? Do non-whites honor the rights and culture of whites when they are in power? Because time is running out, they had better ask themselves these questions soon.

Should be a Mandatory University Textbook,

This review is from: The Real American Dilemma: Race, Immigration, and the Future of America (Paperback)
Like a breath of fresh air I was pleasantly surprised on reading this book. I might have expected ranting bigotry based on some of the reviews of this book here on amazon.com but instead found thoughtful commentary on issues seldom raised elsewhere. I recommend this book as a solid and readable introduction to some of the ethnic dilemmas of our times -- here in Canada no les than in the USA. It should be brought to the attention of every sociology prof who thoughtlessly spouts all the liberal platitudes of our time. If these profs were truly interested in a diversity of (reasoned) opinion, this short edited book would be mandatory.

Perhaps this book is better for younger readers who, like myself, are too young to remember the civil rights movement of the 60s. I find that people from previous generations have very fixed ideas about race relations in this country and will not be open minded when reading Mr Taylor's book. It is an honest appraisal of the problems facing the US in the coming decades.

_The Real American Dilemma_ is a collection of speeches and articles compiled by the editor of _American Renaissance_ magazine, Jared Taylor. This book is very controversial material (look at the negative reviews below) because the contributors buck against politically correct notions of "multiculturalism," "diversity" and "racial equality." The contributors come from a variety of academic backgrounds, mostly in the hard sciences. Interestingly enough, one contributor, Michael Levin, is a Jewish philosophy professor from New York who has gotten into trouble for his views on racial issues, including his incendiary book _Why Race Matters_. Another contributor, Fr. James Thornton, is a Greek Orthodox priest under an Old Calendarist (True Orthodox Church of Greece) jurisdiction and has several books published by the Center for Traditionalist Orthodox Studies. Several important and intentionally disregarded (if not out-rightly slandered) issues regarding race pop up in this brief anthology: the status of Western/Christian culture and civilization, different racial characteristics that separate whites, blacks and Asians, America's disturbingly rapid browning and demographic change that favors blacks and Hispanics, "white flight" from many of America's major cities into the suburbs, "thought control" amongst the ultra-left academia against dissident views on race, and the possibility of separatist ethnic groups dividing America into different racially homogenous states. The most noteworthy feature in my opinion comes from Fr. Thornton's essay where he cites the Christian affiliation of many prominent scholars who argued against racial equality such as Arthur de Gobineau. Thornton notes how traditional Christianity (not the modern diluted pseudo-Marxist "social gospel" Christianity) viewed society as a tiered, hierarchical setup that reflected the rule of God over Heaven. This is an excellent book on racial relations (or the lack thereof) in spite of some of its flaws. It is perhaps a little too Eurocentric in places because it does deny the achievements of non-white, non-Christian cultures such as medieval Islam and ancient China and India.

I have read allot of books on this subject. With all the issues of illegal aliens, crime, etc., this book is a must. It is bringing to light some very serious subjects we face in the near future. If we don't get a handle on it now, our country will fold under pressure from a third world country invasion of our American ideals. My feeling is, if you want to move here, you must not be a criminal, you should learn our language and conform, or stay in your own country... period... I am pleased that a bunch of brave individuals have the guts to make known the facts and fight for the preservation of America.
If you are against illegal aliens invading our country, and all the issues, this book is a must read..

I bought this book in 1999, and never stopped to be reminded of it whenever some event in my personal experience related to immigration. We are losing this country only because white people believe that other races will be as tolerant as whites when they get into power in a future that is not even very far.

This is a common sense book. I would recommend it to anyone who is not fundamentalist and has no problem accepting the scientific truth of evolution nor its consequences.
