Real Anatomy Software has helped me to study the bones and muscles in my Anatomy and Physiology class. It helps me to become familiar with cadaver appearance and locations of bones and muscles.

I will use this software to see the nerves and whatever else we cover in class. I really appreciate the layering effects this software offers because it helpes me to visualize the muscles in relationship to other muscles and bones.

Real Anatomy Software is perfect for the students that are learning using cadavers in class. Books don't give a seemingly 3D rendering of anatomy like this software does. Zoom, rotation, and layering are what makes this software fit the bill.

A fantastic anatomy program for any level student. The dissections are amazing, I love being able to remove layer by layer of the cadaver, then highlight a specific landmark or muscle or organ and then selecting alternate views and seeing it from other angles or in other positions. The practicum is a great way to prepare for labs with 2 different difficulty levels and the ability to select what you want in specific to be tested on. There is no better software option on the market and the price is ridiculously cheap.

This is the best anatomical software you could ever hope to find! It is leaps and bounds ahead of other programs on the market. It's a steal for the price, and should be required for all undergraduate anatomy courses. You'll never regret buying it, but you'll be kicking yourself if you don't get it. These are beautiful dissections that clearly show the anatomy, with easy to understand accompanying text. GET THIS SOFTWARE!

I am, among other things, a registered nurse, certified personal trainer, and nutritional consultant, so I consider myself a prime candidate for this type of software. All I can say is that I wish I had had this program 10 years ago. While textbook diagrams 'are' useful -- even necessary -- seeing the real thing is a whole other matter. And these images 'are' the real thing -- pics of real cadavers, dissected for your viewing pleasure. There are seemingly 1000s of images, and you can click on individual parts and find their name and an explanation of what it does and its importance. And, you can receive alternative views of said bodypart, including some obscure views. Body systems are well-organized and can you self-text youself. A nice feature is the ability to pan and zoom in, rotate and highlight. You can even save pics to your computer that you need to study.

There are only two minor issues with the program: the first is that it takes A LOT of space, so only install this on a fast computer with a lot of RAM. The other problem is that you can't pan, zoom, or rotate 'every' image, which is disappointing because sometimes the controls are there, leading you to think you can use them -- but you can't.

Still, I think this is a great program -- a nice introduction to human anatomy and, if you've never seen a real cadaver, this will break you in a bit (and strengthen your stomach, if need be). I imagine the next step in such a program is virtual dissection -- I suppose we'll see that somewhere down the line. Until then, this is the best thing on the market.

While the concept has great potential, to say the least, the execution here is very poor indeed. Very slow and clunky operation, obsolete interface, little detail even when fully zoomed in -- and zooming is... well, clunky. Time to do an autopsy on this app and find out the cause of death. Definitely time for a reincarnation because this felt like I was using 90s-era software. Judging by the description, one would think this product was far more than what it actually is and that is superficial, to say the least. So I'm subtracting one star for the exaggerated presentation.

This is outstanding software at a very reasonable price. It has a very simple interphase but good function. It uses a real cadaver so you get a real idea of where everything is in the body. You can go one layer inferiorly or superiorly into the body with a click of the mouse. You can zoom in/out, turn the body(lateral, anteriorly, or posteriorly), and drag it up/down. When you stop the mouse over a muscle or organ it brightens up and when you click it the name of the item is above the body. The item clicked also turns from black and white to muscle red to show the extent of the item. In the box to the right there is then a very good explanation of what the muscle does and the Origin / insertion / action / inervation. It does a lot more than that but this alone is enough for it to worth many x more than it costs. If you ever need to know where something is in the body you need this software. I can't think of a down side to it.

I did buy this software through Amazon and glad I bought it, however.....

There are some annoyances in navigating this software. I do suggest it, but if I were only going to buy 1 piece of software, right now I'd buy Practice Anatomy Lab 2.0 over Real Anatomy 1.0.

Real Anatomy can and probably will be superior in the near future, but I think they need to make some changes.
