About the Author

Linda Balk, the author of The Real Deal For Women Series, spent a lifetime making a living in an entrepreneurial and sales environments. Mrs. Balk went through extremely challenging times including divorce, single motherhood, and being the sole provider for her family for over 10 years. The Real Deal For Women series was developed so that women, in any circumstances, can use negotiation to improve their finances. The core principles in this book underscore the many levels of negotiation required by a single major purchase. Written in a conversational style the concepts are concise, analytical, and surprising. This is not another dreary book by a "financial person" who has the audacity to tell women with real financial problems that they need to save money and have a budget. The Real Deal For Women book series is written for women who want the power to negotiate for their families and their financial future.

Just the facts and mothing but the facts! This book tells the plain truth about women buying cars!

For years it has been rumored that car salespeople make deals based on gender and race; this book tells you how to over come the obstacles women face when trying to buy a vehicle!

Bravo to the author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent advice and knowledge, easy to reference!, April 26, 2010

This review is from: The Real Deal For Women: Buying Cars (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to learn about the fine art of buying a car, or any kind of motorized vehicle. It is written in a very straight forward way that is very easy to read and very easy to reference. I'd say that while the book is definitely tailored for women, there is a tremendous value for men too. And, in my opinion, everyone under 30 years old or anyone who has never bought a car on their own before.

Even though I grew up with this great information readily available to me, I still found that I'd made some real blunders on my last two vehicle purchases. For example, the author covers the emotional tactics used by dealerships and sales people to push you to an emotional car buying experience. Now that I've read the book I can say I won't be pulled into that trap again.

One really important thing to consider is that despite decades of haggling for better prices and stressful car buying experiences, very few of us have learned how to avoid the same pitfalls that our parents and friends make. Perhaps its because the experiences are usually so stressful that we don't take the time to evaluate out experience after the fact and teach others about it. This book will has helped me, and it will help you too!
