Real Estate Accounting and Taxation,

This review is from: Real Estate Accounting and Taxation (Hardcover)
As someone new to the field, this book provides a nice introduction to real estate accounting and taxation. As advertised, this book is concise and focused. If you are looking for an exhaustive text, this book is probably not for you. For those getting started in the real estate business, it is quite handy and informative-a solid primer.

Not a bad read for a beginner,

This review is from: Real Estate Accounting and Taxation (Hardcover)
This is not a bad book for a real estate novice with some accounting or finance background. It is well written and provides a good basic outline of R.E. taxation, accounting and ownership entities. I'm not sure why they chose to publish this in a hardcover book, it realistically could be boiled down to 50 pages or so, and could be presented almost like a Harvard Case Study. There are title pages for each chapter (filler), and a couple of sets of example Financial Statements.
I would have returned it (and rated it lower) except for Chapter Four, which outlines the Limitations on Loss Deductions. This is the area of RE Investing that I'm really interested in learning more about, and the Chapter provides a very concise overview of the basis and passive loss limitations. |
