5.0 out of 5 stars Real Feelness is a good time, September 25, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Real Feelness (Audio CD)
I knew this CD was going to be good, but didn't know it was going to be great. Infectiously energetic music, interesting vocals and a stripped down intensity that I haven't heard since..? The Pattern sounds like a group of experienced musicians who challenge themselves to play at the speed of light. The only surprise in this high voltage cornucopia was the last song, Rangefinder, which was thoughtful and romantic. Nice ratio - 12 killer songs and one nice slow song to allow you to catch your breath and reflect on playing it again!!! Real Feelness is a gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Choppin' guitars like cordwood!, March 6, 2004

Don't hate me for doing comparisons but The Pattern a bit like Green Day in their purity, brevity and drive. Each song is lucky to makeit to three minutes, listening to the whole CD feels like about 20 minutes total, you put the thing in, listen to about 5 tracks (seems like), it's done. Like Green Day The Pattern come off on CD as a great live act, you can really hear in the music the bone rattling energy their live show must surely be.
The guitar work by The Pattern really make them stand out and there's some real smokin'-wheelie axe work going on here, they propel the music forward like some punk-rock Bullit. I'd guess a Pattern/Foo Fighters tour would be about as close to Rock Nirvana (no pun intended) as one could get.
Shouldn't compare yet-again but the singer's vocals were a dead-ringer for the dude from Harvey Danger, which is fine by me I like that stuff, but they're very punky/garage-band sounding vocals (Sunny Day Real Estate), just to give you an idea.
Highly recommended, I hope I haven't turned anyone off by comparing them to people they may think are lame, comparison's can be very helpful if someone knows who to use.
Really great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy This Now, July 24, 2003
This review is from: Real Feelness (Audio CD)
Amazing Cd...Energetic, fun, pure rock n' roll. The songs are so catchy and it's the type of music that you can't help but dance to. If you ever get a chance to catch them live, you should...I saw them a few weeks ago, they were amazing, Chris (the lead singer) has so much energy, it's incredible, I'm sure he has ADHD or something...and that's good for us cause it makes for a hell of an entertaining show. Chris's seemingly brand new pants were ripped in 4 different places by the end of the set from all that jumping and rolling around on the floor.
Personally my favorite songs are "Fragile Awareness", "selling submarines", "mary's sister" and "Last Night Called".
So, go, buy it, now!

5.0 out of 5 stars the emotion of Kinski(N.) the power or Lowman(W.), January 1, 2003

When I first heard this I was blown away. Not by the shade and color of the cover itself. Nope. It was the music--sheer unadulterated power. Not power like Sepultura--or even James Brown--but perhaps something in between. Think of an MC5 on caffeine--or better yet a five year old on jelly beans and punch. Not for it's sheer exuberance--but it's playfulness. Songs like "shes a libra" and "rangefinder" paint the world with an exuberance unmatched by what passes as todays youth culture. Seek this out and enjoy!
