Book Description

October 2, 2006
Foyle's War has been widely praised for its engaging storylines, admirable performances and also for the painstaking attention to detail that gives the series such an air of authority and authenticity. "The Real History of Foyle's War" goes back to the real events and people that inform the fiction, and with stills from the show interspersed with historical images, provides an intriguing insight into law and order on the home front between 1939 and 1945, offering a wealth of background information on the living and working conditions for ordinary people during that time, on the role of the police in wartime and the crimes on which the plotlines of Foyle's War are based.

This review is from: Real History of Foyle's War (Hardcover)
This volume came along with the last Foyle's War DVD set. This was one of the most interesting and engaging mystery series I've ever enjoyed. It is part little known history and part whodunnit, done with exquisite production values, attention to detail and top notch casting. Rod Green's book answers the question 'How real is Foyle's War?' The answer is very. The book reveals the historical details that served as the foundation for the story and describes the real life events that were incorporated into many of the episodes. A must for enthusiastic Foyle fans.
