This cd is the best. I work in Perú on a very big tv. channel and I always use it to make new videos. I love it, the sound of the effects are very good. All the persons that works in communications should buy it. The effects that appears are not very common, that's why I use it all the time. This cd is my salvation for all my works.

I say "Famous" because much of what you hear is in the Star Trek films, like Star Trek the Motion Picture, TWOK, STIII, etc... I really like these sound effects and they can go a long way if you are good at using them.

You'll notice the font choice on the cover. THAT is Star Trek film font. So that's a clue. Alan Howarth's bio is extensive: From scores to special sound effects, from Halloween stalkers to STAR TREK, Alan Howarth's electronic imagination has contributed to some of the biggest genre films of the '80s. Alternately wearing the hats of both composer and sound effectsman, Howarth has collaborated with John Carpenter on the music from nearly all of his movies starting with ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK; he's provided sound design and effects for POLTERGEIST, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, all the STAR TREK movies, THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, Coppola's DRACULA, TOTAL RECALL, and STARGATE, among others. As a composer, he's scored all or part of all the HALLOWEEN films, composed music for RETRIBUTION, THE DENTIST, and others.

So you'll hear some awesome effects from those movies on this CD.

I don't know why people rated this low, they may not have a clue as to who Howarth is and what great sound design he did for these classic movies.

i bought this cd a few years ago and instead of sound effects i was happy to hear interesting sound designs. i listen to this cd as i would a brian eno ambient album. i would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys electronic/ experimental/ computer music. thanks howarth.

Most of the sound effects are not good....not as the title decribed. I feel that I waste my money.
