5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Unknown Jazz- Unmissable!, October 30, 2011
This review is from: Real Hot Jazz (Audio CD)
Much play has been made about the sound quality of this disc. That is entirely correct, it sounds amazing. More importantly, however, the musical quality is just incredible for such a little-known record. Across a wide variety of settings; 4,6,7tets and storming big band, you'll get a real bang for your buck. It's just a shame there couldn't have been more from each line up, especially Jack Sheldon's Late Show All Stars. And Don Menza's 80's Big Band. Come to think of it, John Dentz's Reunion Band is brilliant as well. Not to mention Freddie Hubbard!
Just read Amazon's Editorial Review; it's absolutely spot-on, I've never agreed with anything more in my life. So well put!
If you've somehow stumbled across this listing, take it as a sign- it's a miracle, you've just found your next favourite jazz CD. However, it is SO obscure, come on Amazon, it's absolutely criminal that music of this quality can be languishing at 484,992nd on your list. Surely something can be done to draw the audience's attention to such a sure-fire winner. I bet it would go like hot cakes if only people knew about it.
